Me for one and at the moment 20158 other people who have decided that enough is enough and our voice has to be heard. Everywhere else in the world that has made advances in changing the law wether it be medical programs or regulation changes were all created by PETITIONS!
The only way we will ever win the fight is if people stop being afraid, the petition site is not collecting names so they can hunt everyone down and anyone who claims it is, is doing nothing more than scaremongering and only helping the prohibisionists. Its your Human Rights/Civil Liberties that are being stepped on, try telling them you dont want this to continue by adding your name!
Unfortunately the petition looks to be failing, largely I believe due to the attitude of some people who see it as a collection of cannabis users details WHICH ITS NOT, it is in fact a very good chance for us to actually use a democratic process and force the debate in Parliament. Which could be interesting when half of the coalition (The Lib Dems) actually have a party policy to change UK drug laws to Science and Factually based laws instead of the farce we currently have. As there is a current goverment committee studying the state of Drug Laws in the UK now is probably one of the best opportunities we have to win this we just have to fight as hard as we can!
Another reason I think its failing is that I only see it being brought up in Cannabis Forums, if you want to help try posting the petition on other types of sites as we need to get through to the non-stoners to if we want to get to the magic 100,000 figure and there are a lot of them who do support our cause as more and more people are seeing through the prohos lies every year, and finally realising that the 6 Billion pounds a year (Yes thats a real figure) that is currently wasted in police/court/jail costs and lost tax revenue could go a long way towards helping the economy out. .
Ive already done the UK democracy site so I would suggest starting elsewhere, I was thinking of hitting up the UK festival forums next.
I checked out the SSDP site and could not find a link to it from there, so if there are any UK students out there perhaps you could give them a nudge! (hint hint)

Unfortunately its that attitude of fear that has been holding us back for a very long time now. If people continue to be to afraid to speak out nothing will change.
Thankfully there are a lot of brave individuals out there campaigning on a daily basis on behalf of all Cannabis users and in time we will win the fight, but please change your mind and support the cause.

Thats exactly what I did. Did i think 20000+ people have had their doors kicked in for signing a petition. No I did not that would be ridiculous, that sort of thing requires a warrent that nobody will be issued with on the strength of a petition signature.
I did think lets actually try and change the unjustified law.
I did think this seems a good way to get a debate in parliament.
I do think that if you want what I want you will stop being a coward and actually support the cause ( I thought this after your first post but thought it would be insulting to type it, but after you called me a numpty twice for believing in the cause I thought I would type it this time)
I think if 6 million people in the UK smoke cannabis surely 100,000 could have the balls to sign the petition but I guess the Prohibisionists scaremongering is still holding to much sway.

Go to google, and type E-petition, this will link from google to the Goverment E-petition website. Its only linked here because its been posted for likeminded people to support.

think about it , most people are not as computer savy as say me or you ,
they are already worried enough about posting stuff on these types of sites,

I do understand where the fear comes from, but I also think its time people stop being afraid, for example look at the hundreds/thousands of cannabis campaigners who operate publicly they dont get arrested on a daily basis.
And its a petition, if the goverment were to take the names from it and use them to issue warrents to raid peoples homes it would be illegal you need actual evidence for that, failure to supply that evidence and they would be breaking their own laws and would be sued by every single person and would not have any defence at all from a legal point of view. Do you honestly believe they would risk that?
And also not everyone who visits this site is a grower, I used to be while I was treating severe back pain look through my post history and you will find my Autoflower grow I posted up, and I support it from a Medical point of view, but I no longer partake, but I still want to see the Law change because Its a messed up law that has no Justification at all. If my back symptoms ever return and I have been advised that they likely will I will once again turn to Cannabis to treat it I would rather buy it from a shop/chemist than grow again as it takes a long time and Im not very good at it, I also like reading the posts on this site as a lot (not all) of the people on this site have a similar outlook on life to myself.
Now you are obviously not going to sign it, but I dont see why you seem to be trying to discourage anyone else viewing it from signing up, I see your post saying your to scared to put up your postcode as nothing more than uninformed scaremongering and an attitude like that is not helping, well it is, its helping Prohibition.

the uk is a shit country. i can say that. im sitting here right now. im British and am god damn ashamed to be . we are economically fucked and have twats running the country. I have signed the e-petition and passed the link on to so many people. We need to be heard. we need to re educate the country. and we need to legalize. Clearly all people who have stumbled upon this are educated and understand all the bullshit we have been told for years. The benefits over rule any of the down side effects and now its time to take a stand.......... I truly believe that weed should be legal. and only 19 i am not going to stop banging on about it. Legalizing will benefit the country.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
So now what are we going to do about it??? I know what im gonna do!!!! if anyone would like to step forward and speak for the people im here backing you up all the way. cos 1 day im gonna go banging on 10 downing street demanding for an answer. i just want everyone to have some belief in what we can do collectively..... "Cannabis activist" Thats what i am. !!! peace while i smoke my joint.
So now what are we going to do about it??? Stealthfarm if you really want to help, go and join CLEAR, its very cheap to become a member and out of all the organisations out there in the UK they are the most professional set up I have found.
For the record, I am not myself a member, as I campaign across the net joining threads to debunk all the false propaganda that gets spouted around I find I get more success altering peoples opinions If I act independantly, but If I ever decide to join the official fight it would be as a member of CLEAR.
Just put CLEAR into google, its run by a guy called Peter Reynolds and used to be the LCA (legalise Cannabis alliance) their site is very good for getting official information, sources of scientific studies etc, and just to witness how often Peter has to report the Daily Mail to the PCC is quite an eye opener in itself.
As I stated above, one of the main reasons I see the petition failing, (22000 sigs as of today, not nearly enough) is that the Cannabis community wont come out of hiding to sign it.. Paranoid maybe lol. But continue to spread the word just try and spread it among the non smoker forums as its really there support we need as without the mass vote we wont win, well we will its just going to take a bit longer, eyes are opening all the time, and public opinion has been turning for years and we ARE getting closer, you have to believe that. This current petition will fail imho, but the second it closes we will start another one and continue to do so until victory!
