edit: How bout something that says how much money the government waste each year trying to lock up medical patients that need bud to help them instead of fucking pills, and people who use marijuana for personal use. Something along those lines i think would be a good way to get people to wake up and smell the coffee and realize how rediculous (sp?) this is. Legalize.

So my piggy bank is probably a little larger than most of you folks, however I would love to spend some of it on helping out the process of marijuana legalization. This coming from an individual that has struggled with autism throughout his entire life, and was recently diagnosed with bipolar. If you ever knew an autistic person, you know how hard and dehabilitating their lives are, well bipolar doesn't help that any.

That's very generous of you, and considering what my husband just told me tonight, you're probably correct about the finances.

My oldest son is autistic (high functioning, like yourself). Bipolar disorder, OCD, Tourette's (youngest boy is Tourette's, before he was diagnosed I thought everyone twitched and ticced), schizophrenia, and clinical depression all run in my family. We are tweaked.

Billboards are a start, but we really need more of a lobby presence, to be honest. Lobbyists will cost anywhere from $1500/month on up, depending on how much or hard they lobby, etcetera. The lobby is where the real action happens.

But back to my point, what type of billboard do you guys think would be best? Stastics are good sometimes to put things into reality and it's easy to see the bigger picture when you use a sequence of statistics like that. People will see the numbers and there is no denying numbers. I think some sort of picture comparison may also be good as some people drive by billboards and never read them, but a picture is harder to miss. A phrase wouldn't do much since you're not doing some sort of national campaign with the phrase.

The reason i changed it was that another member (MRSMcgreggor) photoshopped a pic of my monster bud & i thought it was pretty creative & an original idea on her part,im not photo shop skilled so i got a kick out of her work,i made it my screen saver on my work pc as well.

Back to the topic at hand, though. I'm not kidding about the importance of the lobby. That would be SO much more effective than putting up billboards, and it would reach the right people (the ones who actually make the laws on a state and federal level). It's expensive, but it works. Just look at the fucking digital television signal conversion fiasco for a primer on the effectiveness of the lobby. Or, if you really wanna get pissed off about something, search AARP lobby. FUCK if that doesn't chap my hide!

1500/month is not a lot. I could sell my car (which I hate and never drive) and hire 20 for a month, to put it into perspective.

Also, I think we should start calling it "cannabis" instead of "marijuana" in the states. Currently "Marijuana" has a negative stigma to it, and we need to change this image. We can't take back the word marijuana. We need to use another word that people can identify with weed, without having a negative connotation attached to it. Cannabis fits this bill I think.

For real. People need to ask themselves, "How does cannabis prohibition differ from alcohol prohibition?"

"Should the government tell me how my garden grows?"

I also think that we need to promote the healthier ways of using cannabis: cooking and vaporizing.

Like a cancer research style commercial. We need to tug on heartstrings. We need to have puppy dogs and all that crap.

You know those "truth" ads? We should start our own "truth" campaign.

Some of this misinformation is just getting silly and I am getting fed up with it. I intend in the near future to begin coming up with my own ads and animations. We'll see...
