submerging taproot in water

i've been searching the internet for the effects of completely submerging plant taproots but havn't found any info. Here's what I'm thinking. My family owns 400 acres with two private lakes. I was thinking I could buy heavy duty 5 gallon nursery pots, fill them with good quality soil then dig a hole beside a lake and place them in the hole. If the bottom three inches of the nursery pot were submerged in water the taproot would have a constant supply of water. Would this stagnant water rot out the tap root though?

well if you have 400 acres.. find a spot with direct sunlight the more the better. then dig a 2ftx2ft hole for each plant. buy the best soil you can afford i recommend fox farms ocean fresh it works really well i also like to add 2 cups worm casting and 1/4 cup bat guano per hole.. mix it up good really good use about 75% foxfarms and the other 25% the soil thats your digging in depending on your soil. but just make sure its turned over really good and is really soft and not compressed... If you start them now depending were your at if your westcoast or anyplace like it then plant them now. fish emulsion is one of my favored vegetative nutes to use when they are about 4 weeks old outdoors.. if you do this you will end up with monsters if you choose your genetics right. try for sativa dominant strains as they take heat good"which we will have this summer" and they grow bigger then indica. i like 60-70% sativa and the rest indica for my outdoors if i can grow monster plants in my situation. if u need small plants use more indica and a short small strain. other tricks for size reduction is topping and LST. if your starting now topping will be alright as they will have time to grow the new shoots nice and big. you can also top the 2 new shoots developed from the first top. fim you dont need to cut the whole top you want to sort of cone it out.. check the growfaqs for all the information you need..as for leaving the taproot in water.. dont even screw with it you will just loose growing time, and if the roots are submerged they will not have oxygen unless you have a bubbler going because the soil believe it or not soil allows air into the ground for the roots to breath.

I would like to put them in full light, and probaly will for at least 1 patch (i'm growing 100 plants, 50 of which are 2 weeks under a 400 watt mh...10 plants per patch).. Problem is planes fly over the area daily, and helicopters try to spot grows late in the summer in this area of Michigan. And as much as I would like to buy fox farms or another high quality soil, the stuffs expensive. I paid $24 for 2.8 cf of sungro metromix 300. With 100 plants is it worthwhile to use this soil, or just till the natural soil. The more weed the better though, and the natural soil is pretty clay like.

your gonna get fucked with 50 to a patch unless you plant them late in the year to keep them small is wht im thinking.......specially if its already hot with copters and planes..... Do you not think mate? what in the hell makes you think youll get away with THAT shit?

read my post again.. i said im growing 50 under a 400 watt mh right now and im planning on growing 10 plants per patch... last year i grew 70 plants in one kick ass spot, and i guess it was luck that it wasn't seen. i had two succesfull grows in that spot, but this year i don't want to take the risk, which is why i'm going to do 10 plants per patch. whats your thoughts on 'importing soil'? both of my last grows the plants hit 5-7' in this clay like soil, but when i pulled the plants out of the ground to see how big their roots were, they wern't enough to fill a 2 gallon pot... still, I think the plants reached their genetic potential in terms of size, so buying expensive soil doesn't seem worth while.

i am sorry bra i was smoking the bong and drifted over that part.
ive grown in some fucking georgia clay before brother, and it can prevent plants from reaching full potential but then again if you baby them with everything that they need they can still do extremely well.
i raised 2 in solid clay one time with no nutes and i raised 2 in clay with proper care other than being in the clay, and 2 in properly prepared soil.
all in the same patch getting the same light.
the ones in clay and no nutesd did shitty.
the ones in clay with proper babying to every detail did fairly well.
but the ones in good quality dirt did the best out of all with the least care.

Its really all up to how you want to go at this shit bra. I mean if you have the time and feel safe enough to be around decent sized patches like that for consistent times babying plants then you could prob use the clay....but if you mmix in @ least half ( i prefer going 100%) of good soil then its much less work (and less time you could get busted standing around tending to shit).
and forget trying to keep the ph of clay consistent with using nutes. the shits hard and nearly immpossible.

you dont have to use high priced soil it will help a little more but you can achieve the same thing with the 4 dollar bag of miracle grow organic soil.just dig 10 holes per patch about 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep and then mix some of your soil you have and the miracle grow as and example. if you can buy some clay breaker and some perlite it will help.. the better the soil medium the better root growth. when you have good healthy roots you will have fat buds.

If you can get 5'-7' plants in the soil thats there, there is no reason to go thru the expense or trouble of bringing in dirt. I've been growing in mi. for 30 yrs., grow in marginal soil, have NEVER brought in dirt or water & avg. 6-7oz. bud/plant. I think people forget they are just WEEDS! In the midwest the only secret is to plant them where other weeds grow big. Going out to your crop all the time just makes them more noticible to animals & people & is the quickest way to have them eaten or ripped off.

comforting to hear. when i watched the videos of brwndirt and read articles of growers in humbolt county using fox farms, it got me thinking that better soil dramatically increases yields. this soil i'm dealling with is clay like, but just about anywhere i dig has a fuck ton of worms in it, so if it's good enough for them hopefully it will be good enough for my pot. has in the past.
