Here is my thing.... The reason people can grow 8-12 pounds every month or every two months, and lets say with a 95% overage (to be extreme) and are able to sell off all overages at high prices that would give them a large income is because there is an OPEN market that allows them to. This is not street dealer markets. Any grower with an overage can go to a compassion club or the farmers market and sell their medicine at MARKET VALUE. There is a market value because there is a demand with consumers WILLING and ABLE to pay that amount. If they couldn't afford it, simple economics would tell us that prices would drop. This is all possible BECAUSE not every cardholder has a debilitating injury/disease rendering them disabled. In fact, only 2/5 of medical marijuana users have admitted to not being a recreational smoker prior to getting their card. And I'd have to find the survey but there are around 35% that take it for ease of pain from injury or cancer radiation, sleep, anxiety, and relaxation. Of that 35%, I think only 31% was for pain. So the majority of these patients may have an ailment but are able to hold and maintain jobs. Not all are on medicaid with social security incomes. And of that, you have a large and growing even larger number of people who paid their $200 and got a card just to get a card. So those who can afford it can pay for it.
There is nothing wrong with that. Look at the medicine industry..... if they weren't out for a profit, they wouldn't patent their most needed medicines and sue companies overseas for for making knock offs that sell their meds DIRT CHEAP to villages that wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.
The moral high ground of course would be to give your medicine to the needy. In every economical structure there is a welfare system for the neediest. So for those who are on a fixed disability income should be given meds for free. And for those who make $30k a year but really need their medicine to continue with their lives and employment, they can pay what is recommended at $3/gram.
To grow and only ask for enough to scrape by is foolish. If you grow a large amount.... the amount you are ENTITLED TO GROW, then you'd know it is a full time job in itself. If there wasn't a market, there'd be no need to talk about this but there IS a market.

do you know who fights to keep marijuana illegal and spends big dollars to make sure it stays that way?...big pharma..liquor/alcohol industry...lumber industry.. and anyone who profits from it being illegal like police unions and privately run prisons and dozens of others ..there are lobbyists who get paid to pay off useless politicians to ensure the enforcement of these insane laws....those people profit from marijuana being illegal.... some of you people are so thrilled to get a few scraps thrown your way you have gotten delirious ..... go pay 200$ for a card to grow a plant that helps me and others ....and still have to worry about the feds or local police not recognizing the 200$ card and smashing your lights and plants...and renew that card yearly so the state can piss more money away ...fuck that

So far about 1/2 of my non terminal patients are not renewing. Some are keeping a current Dr cert. Some are just fading back to black. If I can I will still service their med needs. Fuck the state. Fuck the Feds. And a great big 'fuck you' the sellouts at MMMA.

Lookin around at the group there I can honestly say I would be Movin out of state. They counted o. Those people to do the 'right' thing, and now??? Torches and pitchforks..

I'm really coming around to your line of thinking corso. This is all one big racket where we pay to play, and then risk getting tossed in the can anyway. What a fucking joke it is that we can kill ourselves with cigarettes and alcohol, but god forbid we ingest a friggin plant!
We can vote these fuckers out of office, but the next guy standing in line is just as crooked!

It is tragic irony that we follow the law the people voted in and the politicians and pigs who are sworn to uphold it won't.
It sucks to learn that we aren't all that civilized after all.
We have become a nation of men and not of laws.
Most tragic of all is our society is made less safe by our alienation from it than any amount of marijuana use 'by the children' or otherwise could ever cause.
I'm not calling LEO even if I witness murder.
I'm not stopping to help the Mother and her children in a burning SUV by the side of the highway.
I'm not calling 911, and I'm not going to assist LEO in any manner whatsoever. Ever!
Child molestors and rapists need not fear me because it's just too risky for me to get involved.
I have a target on my back because my government has been at war with me for the last 41 years.
If you already have a card and have same residence you might as well keep renewing because LEO has your info now you can be sure of that.
Without a huge shift from the governments current positions towards MM I would not recommend that a newbie sign up for the program.
It's just too risky and not worth the hassle. Just get a new Dr. recommendation every 90 days and keep your head down.

@ stowandgrow....i am moving there next week and want to be legit but i just dunno man..it seems like a waste of 200$ and then i will worry about the state having my information....i been growing for 5 plus years and never had a problem...i quiet and low key and it has always worked ..not sure i should chance it, i planned on getting a card to get some clones but now all the dispenses are closed and the police are breaking balls

I'm considering not renewing my card this year. I want to wait and see how this package of bills plays out first, but if the police can access my info through the registry without probable cause, then to me I'm just putting a target on my back for no good reason by having a medical card. I'd sooner wipe my ass with that $200 if that's the case.

Realistically, I think having a card only benefits the small self grower, or small care giver. If you have a large grow, they are going to find a way to call you out of compliance, and bust you.

I'm not worried at all about my grow. I stay well below my plant count at all times, and I never have more dried marijuana on me than I'm allowed to have. No worries at all. I'm more concerned about this "operating a motor vehicle under the influence" shit. If LEO can access the registry and see who's a patient, that pretty much fucks anyone on that list. I could not smoke for two weeks and still be considered impaired. Why would I want to invite that type of hassle?
