Europe Timeline 3 months

Previously they used silver alongside Gold which was much more prevalent in the earth's crust than gold, alas according to the USGS, silver will be so difficult to find in any significant amounts that it will be the first Element on the periodic table to essentially be extinct, supposedly by 2020, so its not going to help this time.

It is a good question, but I think gold will not be used as a physical device, instead we will use warehouse receipts for the stored gold and call them dollars.

I can see a tremendous weakness to that approach. We weren't even able to keep clean account of fissiles, which were and are much more valuable (and worth tracking for other reasons) than gold. cn

It is amazing how incompetent government is isn't it? But its been 100 years since government was in charge of the money supply so its hardly worth mentioning.

I suspect it's structural ... while I agree that government can be startlingly incompetent, I wonder if it isn't inherent in any large-enough organization. Like the Armed Forces or the IRS or General Electric.
A nongovernment organization will probably be more competent, however government as elaborated in the West has one outstanding quality that a corporation or a totalitarian regime don't have, and that is accountability. it's horribly imperfect, but at this scale i don't know how to do it better. I consider both the socialist/collectivist ideology and its libertarian/strict-constructionist counterpoints to be utopian. cn

accountability? What are you smoking? There is almost NO Accountability in federal government. When was the last time you saw some government flunkie get fired for screwing up someone's life? Think the IRS is accountable for mistakes they made? Fuck no. No part of government is accountable, they all just blame Bush.

People in corporation are way way more accountable.

I don't think they are within, and certainly not without. Corporate scandals are quite as juicy as gov't ones.

And I've seen multiple incidents of gov't employees at the low- to mid-level get the shaft. cn

I see you took some time off ... I'm hoping Salma had her effect. cn
I woke the Kids and GF up trying to choke myself remember? so had to deal with them. It wasn't auto-erotic asphyxiation either so get your mind out of the gutter. Nothing is going to bring Michael Hutchence back, so settle down.

Europe are gonna loan money directly to our banks now instead of to the State.

Bye bye 25-40% of our national debt :D

I sometimes choke myself until my head turns purple ... but my hand is nowhere near my neck. cn
