you seem to be under the impression that it was the slaves that started and fought the civil war, when in all actuality it was white supremacy v/s white supremacy the slaves did not sit at the bargaining table, they did not get to decide what they were willing to give up, they were tools used by white men to pit one against another for economic and political power. They were abused in every way and used as heartlessly by both sides, and to push them into this as tho they had some say or advocated the murder of 500,000 people on there behalf is wrong.
The only people that have a problem with the Civil War are the fuckers who lost. Unless I'm in the fuckin South ( or the freakin internet ) I don't hear shit about the Civil War. The humor in your statement was how naive it was. I don't think slavery is funny, and no I do not condone the practice. Also, I never said we should've waited for slavery to just go away. It's often argued that slavery was a central issue, but many historians disagree with that. It was AN issue, but far from THE issue. Do you deny that the Civil War still is a sore subject for many in this country? Do you deny that mechanization and improved farming technology would've likely made slavery inefficient and basically obsolete? That was my point. I'm sorry if you disagree, but my statement in no way means that I am a proponent of slavery.
