In the show itself they have listed half a million places they could possibly live, everyone being diametrically opposed to the others. I know so dumb ass state won some dumb ass contest that made them think the Simpsons' Springfield was in their state, but that doesn't really mean shit. I haven't read the link Cut.Throat posted yet, but I do remember a short interview with Matt Groening where he said that he always thought Springfield was in Oregon. Considering many of the names used in the show can be found all over Portland and other areas of Oregon, oh yeah and because the creator of the show said so, that it's in Oregon.
Yea ive heard alot of ppl with arguments about which state its in. I was just pointing out that in this episode they very clearly placed it as Illinois' Springfield.
Nope. Kentucky. There is an episode where homer says something about going south of the border and Bart says " what u mean tennesee?" Plus I have a book somewhere that says so. I'll try and find it and take a picture.
it was mos def the miidle of the country lol
OK now you're both just being dumbasses I just told you where it was as did a post earlier.
Sorry dude but you're wrong. Better luck next time.
Ok but the creator of Simpsons is from... Oregon, went to school in Oregon and recently stated in an interview that when he thought to name it Springfield he was referring to the town just out side of the college town of Eugene (hippie school).
Of course growing up in Kansas I always wished it was Springfield Mo, some thought IL, some OR while others Mass, but alas it's Oregon.
