question on HID and baby plants

so in my 1st grow the 600 watt HPS i bought from my brother blew and i bought a select a watt switchable 400/600 watt MH/HPS but for growing seedlings now that i dont have any T8's can i use a 400 watt MH for baby baby palnts?

Yes, absolutely. You must insure they have adequate ventilation though. IMO, very young seedlings do better under fluorescent lights (CFL,T5,T8 etc).
 
i grow in a closet and i have a air conditioner about 3 feet away from the closet with maybe some domes over the plants 1st maybe 2 weeks will that work?
 
Keeps plants at least 3 ft away, regardless of heat

Also depends on age of plants, but newborns shouldn't have intense light
 
yea i would say that's way to much light for seedlings after a couple weeks u should be good...also get some fans regardless of the age of the plants...
 
Until I got all 3 rooms up and running I used my 1000W set-up for everything. New
seedlings under 1000W will need some air and need to be staked. You will see a bunch
of 8-inch toothpicks but that is manageable if you stake them.

PS -- it also wastes $.
 
It depends on how many plants. If you only have a few start them under T5 get at least 3 nodes befor going to HIDs. You need a fan.
