Aeroponic cloning????????

Ive tried my hand at cloning with rockwool and a humidity dome and my success rate wasn't anything to brag about (actually kinda pissed me off). Anyway I think I'm going to try my hand at aeroponic cloning. I'm pretty sure I got the gist of it but my questions are about the water and the nutes. What exactly do you put in the water as far as nutes and how often do you change the water out if any. If anyone can help guide me in the right direction that would be very much appreciated.

plain tap water, only.no gels or additives needed. nutes are for plants with roots, no roots=no nutes. change water for every new batch, they shouldnt really need more than two weeks.no dome, no misting.

You don't need nutes. It can work with plain water. If you want to add some juice, add a rooting solution.

Google is your friend in building a cloner. There are a lot of walkthroughs. Look at a bunch and pick the one you like most

Thanks man, I appeciate it and you are right about google I already did and yes it was very helpful. Actually Youtube was the best and I found a small aeroponic cloner on Ebay for $40. I dont think as far as time and materials, I cant build it for that cheap.

i use an aero cloner and ive tried a ton of different things. for me best results come from dipping cuttings in clone x then put them in the cloner and i sit them beside my lights, no direct light for first day or two. in the cloner i put some Rhizotonic and im sure that i get roots way faster with this in there than without. and i add some peroxide about a cap full maybe a lil less.

you can build for chepaer and better.

its pretty simple

get a 23-27 gal roughneck tote

get 1/2" pvc and 2 1/2" tees, 4 1/2" elbows.

get 9 ez clone sprayer

get 400gph pump

cut 8 pvc 1/2 pieces, one 4 inch, the others 8 inches long

attach them all together like this l-l
thats the top view. on the edges put in the legs. On one leg use the 4 inch pvc

drill 11/64" holes 4 on each side( the tops). On the Pipe down the middle, drill one hole in the center.

put in ez clone sprayers in holes.

position pump under 4" pvc leg. attach pump with pvc using 5/8" hose

DONE

Why peroxide????????

do not use h2o2 unless you screw up and get root rot. nothing is needed in a cloner. you can add beneficials later when in veg and flower but killing the good along with the bad is not the best way.

Like I said as far as the TIME and materials.......I cant build it cheaper than $40. Time is money and if I'm not at work then I have 1000 other things to do so if I can get one to start me out for only $40 then I'm all over it. But once I get to the point where I am fairly successful at doing the Aeroponic cloning then I will build me a little bigger and better but until then I will stick with the beginner level..........LMAO..........Thanks for the info though man, I appreciated it.

Right on man.......No nutes just plain water. Sounds pretty fool proof but then if anyone can screw it up it will be me. LOL. Thanks

aero adds unnecessary complexity. the more parts your system has, the more points of failure you have. i gotta say, if you're thinking of building a new system, a small aquaponic setup can't be beat for ease, low maintenance, low fuss, low cost to operate, and high success rate.

if you're using rockwool, aero isn't really compatible. how is the mist/spray/fog going to get to the cut tip that sits in the rockwool? you're pretty much just wetting the outside of the block, which you can do with simpler methods. what's the point of aero, in that case? why not just drip or ebb/flow?

you have to use neoprene collars, which somewhat limits what you can do with the clone after it roots. you can't just shove a rooted clipping into a block of rockwool after the fact. you can still transplant to soil, coco, hydroton, whatever, but my point is it rules out rockwool as an option.

sure, people eventually learn to clone successfully using traditional methods, but compare any and all other methods to aquaponic cloner:

1. need nutes? nope, just cheap fish food.
2. need cloning gels or hormones? nope, but you can
3. need humidity dome? nope
4. need to foliar spray? nope
5. need to worry about res temp? nope
6. need to add H202 and/or bennies? nope
7. need to flush? nope
8. need baskets, cubes, blocks? not unless you want to, just stick it in hydroton, wait a week, transplant
9. small footprint? same as any mini ebb/flow system

once you go AP for cloning, you'll never look back.

Everything the above posters have said about keeping it simple are true, plain old tap water, no nutes and soft lighting is important but NOBODY has mentioned the single most important factor in taking clones successfully from a cutting to a rooted plant is the stock material you choose, tops do not root the quickest, the bottom "left behind" branches do not either, it's the meat in the middle that roots quickest and turns out to be the fastest and healthiest clones. Cut above a node giving yourself no more than 4 inches of stem, scrape the blade down both sides of the stem exposing the cambium to the water, I've had roots in 3-7 days and have never had a loss, some get recycled for new mother material and the weakest get tossed. Cutting below a node will take longer to root as the area at the end is geared to produce a leaf, not a root, hormones need to change, structure needs to change, this takes time and puts unnecessary stress on the clone. I have consistently seen roots burst from a open stem quickest.

Without bragging to date I have taken thousands of clones and grown start to finish in aero for some time, picking the right material is most of the effort, the other factors are merely there to support the stock do what it needs to do.

I dont get it. you can make it in a hour.... materials can be found ordered online and to you in 2 days... only thign you need to order are sprayers and 1 pump, rest go to lowes, ace or home depot

WOW man. OK like I said I DONT WANT TO BUILD ONE right now, damn. I understand that your trying to help but come on man. Your like a drug pusher. I know EXACTLY what it consist of. I just dont have the time.
