Trying to clone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying my hand at aeroponic cloning but I have a couple questions. Maybe dumb questions but it seems logical to me. OK so my first questions is when you are using an aeroponic cloning bucket or tub and you put Clonex or what ever you use on the cutting and you place it in the neoprene disk what keeps the water from washing off the rooting hormone. Like I said it probably a dumb question but you got to admit it does seem logical, but it obviously works..... Im just askin.....OK question #2 what is the best way to run your pump? 24/7 or 15 min intervals. Thanks guys..:weed:

IME 24 hours is best. Your rooting hormone does dissolve, which is why aero cloning usually calls for hormones in your res. Aero cloning is a lot of tedious set up, and more work than necessary, in my opinion. I rooted clones in peat pucks or RW, and was able to take up to 150 at a time and forget them for two weeks. At that time, all have roots or failed, and I could choose who goes on and who can be culled. Perfect in its simplicity, as it is one thing you need not worry about; set it and forget it.

tedious? more work? what could be easier? you cut a branch, put it in a collar and net pot, then in cloner with tap water only(no need to ph), set timer for 1min on 5min off and leave them alone. why have to chose what roots and fails? settle for no failure.

Well as he said he can walk away for two weeks knowing that damp rockwool will supply the clones with enough moisture to survive and root. Now if you left your cloner and it happens to fail 30 minutes after you left the house, then guess what? That is right, all 150 clones of yours are dead, and his aren't, it isn't simple if you are relying on a machine to keep your plants alive.

Hey thanks man, I watched several vids on Youtube and noone said anything about the timer issue exept one guy said 5 min on and then 5 min off. I have searched EVERYWHERE and I cant find a timer that allows a 5 min intervals, let alone 1 min.

Liquid hormones will leech into the skin of the fresh cutting as soon as you dip, it will wash off 90% into your res but its the 10% that is what we want. Powders take a little longer though. I would not turn my pump off at all, I do not use any hormones or anything other than tap water and my cloning runs at 100%...knock on wood.

i dont even look at my cloner for 10-12 days after taking cuttings. i have lost one cutting from thousands over the years and never had a pump go bad.
