Gas Prices are 6 cents above what it was before the financial meltdown in 2008. National gas price average today is still 30 cents below what it was in 2008 also. National average today: $3.81 National average in 2008: $4.11 ...... California today was something like $4.68 vs. $4.61 a year ago. So like I said but you refuted- they are almost back to normal!

I surly factored in the explosion, and this is one of the roots to our problems in this state, we need more refineries and the hippies (environmentalists) have stopped all construction of new refineries for decades! When gas supplies get low in this state, the environmentalists will not let us import fuels from other states to supply our demand, winter blends are bandaides, we need to cut down on these ridiculous California regulations and be able to burn the same fuels as the other 49 states and build new refineries to keep up with our demand.

OF course you didn't grow up in LA were people couldn't catch their breaths for days on end, children were advised not to play outside and old folks tended to die before their time with respreratory problems. funny how people forget the bad old says and imagine it just never happened that way.

Are you talking about Obama's Air Force 1? It costs about $60,000.00 per HOUR to operate. Most of it is jet fuel needed for Obama to fly around the country and talk about global warming

I have three refineries. I get a profit of 15 cents a gallon. One of my refineries goes out of service and I now get 30 cents a gallon. Refineries cost me billions of dollars each - even without the cost of regulation. Gasoline is a fungible resource in that it is the same price everywhere.

I know that there are fewer and fewer new discoveries, so why the hell should I spend billions of dollars simply to put more gas into the system when so doing will reduce my profit per gallon?

Shall we discuss economics yet again here Freedomworks? No company will intentionaly spend billions on a facility that serves only to make their product less expensive when the demand for that product is not at least moderately elastic. How does doing otherwise make any sense? This talk about government keeping oil companies from building new refineries is for the most part bunk. Certainly companies may wish to create more efficient facilities but they will run the ones they have as long as they can. In fact it may be government itself that spurs them to build new, cleaner ones to replace their older dirty ones.

You guys will blame government for your skin tags if given half a chance.

the same crap nonthiest, basic economics has nothing to do with sticks and mud. If as pappy says, you can charge twice as much simply because you can't make as many of something, why make more of that thing? If the fewer of something I make the more I make on each one and I know there is a limit to the number I can sell, why should I make more?
