Just curiuos if they make a digital machine that tells me what the humidity is in my grow room and if I can also use this machine to set and change the humidity to my own desired settings. Thanks.

Ok. I just got some additional info. I guess it wouldnt hurt to place an humidifier into the grow room. Do you guys agree? There are 3 different types of portable humidifiers on the market to consider. I will purchase onw that has a built in hygromater (to monitor humidity) and also has built in humidistat (to adjust the humidity), They make a cool mist model, warm mist model, and an ultra sonic model. Any suggestions?

are you serious? of course there is. its called a dehumidifier. common household item, and depending on the size of your grow, they don't have to be an expensive investment. Also get a hygrometer for your grow room.

not a humidifier. a dehumidifer. plants transpire water vapor through thier leaves. to get rid of the growing humidity levels either pump air out of your grow room or, get a DEhumidifier, not a humidifier

i don't use humidifiers anymore because of mold dude. I leave my room alone and the humidity stays at 33%. I know that isn't good, but my plants are growing just great.

humidity is only a really bad thing when it gets too high, 33% humidity is not the best to grow in, but it could be much worse, like 90%. When my plants are flowering I never let too much moisture get in around my buds, I try to keep it in the 40's and 50's

I live in Sonoma County California. I believe the humidity here is pretty good. I am using the garage to grow which at times will get cold during the winter months as I will be getting a portable heater in the garage to place the room temp at a constant 70 to 80 F. This is a good idea right? Maybe I should do this then get a digital hygrometer and see where the humidity actually is befor I buy a dehumidifer. Is this a better idea. What should the ideal humidity level be in the grow room be and where can I purchase a hygrometer? Sorry about all the stupid questions. I just want to gain a lot of knowledge.

you don't need to worry about humidity so much on the west coast. Just get an exhaust fan to get the humidity out of your room, with a passive intake (vent), because its good to circulate fresh air thrrough your grow room anyway

Munch Box. I guess your right. What kind of portable heater do you reccomend buying. I would like to get one that is an energy saver. The garage is 20 feet by 20 feet. I will be growing 60 plants. When I go into flower with lights off the room temp will drop into the low 60s this time of year.

Don't let your room get below 55 F when the lights are off, that will stunt the plants growth, and possably kill it. Plants need warmth when they go through photosynthesis, thats also when they use co2, Plants only go through photosynthesis when the lights are on. So I would recomend a light duty heater, because you live in a warm climate. Make sure when your lights are on. the temp goes back up to normal

I had low humidity levels, below 30%, whiched caused some stress on the plants and they weren't growing too fast. I added a cool mist humidifier, from home depot cost a little over 50 bucks, but my plants have been shooting up ever since. Humidity levels are around 55% with temps averaging 80.

Buy a room dehumidifier, they have a dail you can set to regulate the amount of humidity in the room. I paid $30.00 for one at a yard sale and completely solved my problems. My room was running too damp before. A hygrometer shouldn't cost more than a few bucks at ay home supply place. Good luck.

I've looked into this humidity deal when I was in the initial planning stages of my setup. I'm in the east coast where humidity is a problem in the summer months (reaching as much as 99%). I don't claim to be an expert on the subject but from what I've read so far the plants thrive best in a 45-60% level. Anything above that promotes mold growth before you even begin to harvest and anything less than this amount can promote different infestations. I understand also that this range is ideal because it makes the plant feel that it has to provide its own moisture and consequently develops more resin in the flowering stage. Again, this is stuff I read before I began my setup. I'll leave it to the hundreds of experts on this site to tell you if what I said is true or if they have other suggestions based on experience.... I'd be interested myself to hear what they say.

Controlling the humidity level according to Al B Fuct account for about 40% of your success, ideal range 45 to 55%. In some areas, like mine, I live in Michigan, you will need a dehumidifier in the summer and a humidifier in the winter. And of couse you will have to have a hygrometer to monitor the levels.
If they humidity level is too low the plants will not transpire properly, they don't want too let lose of what little water they have, so they conserve, which of course means they don't get the nutrients you are giving them, no water out, no water in.
If they humidity level is too high they can't transpire. You now how it is on a humid day, your skin gets wet and clammy, your sweat seems to stick too you. The plants stomata get clogged they can't get rid of thier waste. They will shut down til they situation is corrected. VV

My Humid. seems to hover around 70-90 and my plants seems fine.
