"The lawsuit alleges that in the first report, on March 19, the call was intentionally edited to make it sound as though Zimmerman had volunteered the information that Martin was black, when he actually was responding to the operator's question about Martin's race, which was omitted. A similar report ran March 27, it said.
On March 20, the lawsuit alleges, the network incorrectly and intentionally stated Zimmerman used a racial epithet on the call."

I mean free speech is free speech, but if it needs to be limited anywhere it is in the media. When people can be charged for facebook and twitter comments i can't understand how the media is allowed to do the things they do.

I agree but it's a fine line and a slippery slope. one i think we are already sliding down.
I'm not sure I see a fine line or a slippery slope. Libel laws have been in place since the 1700s, and it is clearly illegal to lie about a person and cause them harm.

OIC, i didn't realize they were being accused of lying. I got the impression they presented the phone conversation in parts making it appear that he made racist comments despite the fact that taken in context to rest of the conversation the remarks were not the least bit racist. Tho I still feel given the power of modern media is at the very least unethical and warrants compensation.

but it scares me how much we are not allowed to say these days.

Apparently, desert dude is confusing libel with spin. Spin is what every news organization does when they cherry pick sound-bytes and use half-quotes to convey an image of someone or something that is in line with the organizations underlying agenda. They do this under the argument of "look at what he DID say, it could be reasonably interpreted to mean x. DD has a point though, it would be nice if most news organizations particularly FoxNews and MSNBC were shut down, because they really add no reporting of value.

True, the harsh reality is they are a brand of sensationalism masquerading as news, and many people will not make that distinction. Even proving an outlet is BS does not ensure its demise, e.g. weekly world news etc.

No confusion at all. What NBC did was lie. They edited the recording of the conversation and deleted part of it to intentionally make Z out to be a racist. NBC even fired three people over the matter.

This is not spin, this is a straight up lie. The only question is whether NBC's lie caused Z any harm; if so, then this is libel. What would a jury decide in the matter? Who knows given the charged and polarized nature of this whole incident?

A few days later NBC had their "sound experts" identify the "fucking coon" comment, which wasn't there.

Zimmerman thinks because idiot right wingers are behind him he can bully the justice system. He shows his narcissism with every move he makes.

i love how he fucked himself in the ass already by giving 17 different versions of what happened.

in the video, he says he was knocked down and immediately pinned at the T.

yet, look where the shooting occured. nowhere near the T, items dropped along the way.

have fun explaining that one, zimm-zimm-zala-bimm.

He's already shown that he's lied in court, keep defending a lying murderer.

Here, he made this video so the less intelligent such as yourself will give him more money, have at it.
