It's in the room I sleep so what's the most quiet can fan for carbon filter? I just dont want a noisy ass buzz while I sleep. Thanks for reading! :joint::hump:

They make fan mufflers now that will quiet down most fans..........buy the best fan with the highest CFM that fits and don't worry about noise- just get a muffler.

Ok, how about the best fan without having to buy a $50-$150 muffler? I've got a 150w hps going I dont need crazy good fan, just something to pass through a carbon filter would be nice.

Anyone? I hate when people bump their shit but it's been acouple of days would like afew suggestions for quiet inline fans for a carbon filter. One that I could at least hear the tv over you know?

follow SSHZ's advice as it is spot on, ...did it ever occur to you you might want to expand your op at some point?

...btw, there are DIY versions of mufflers if you are so inclined.

here is a good one that can be scaled down.

DIY Muffler

bozo

btw, hopefully the greatest lesson you take from this is what a pain in the ass it is to wait for answers, ...far better to understand that your answers are already out there, ...if only you can learn to hunt for them instead of just waiting for them.

lol, come on man dont give me that. I've been researching on every site i could think of, i've only found ways to quiet loud fans. So as a last resort I'm asking a forum full of growers (who most of them use carbon filters) what fan is the best in their opinion, since every company says theirs is the best.

Sunleaves Windtunnels are pretty quiet, no rattle or buzz sound. It's not completely silent. I would suggest considering a Variable Voltage Regulator like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KRM-AEEC-59...-590VR-Voltage-Regulator-Variac-/330790688474

This way you can control the fan speed down to what you need which in return lowers the noise. The 30 dollar high/low speed controller suck and do not control noise, often increasing it with a buzzing sound.

What do you mean don't give you that?

He just showed you how to make any fan+carbon filter setup, big or small, completely silent.

Isn't that what you wanted and the whole point of this thread and your first post?

You can put your fan in an insulated box, with insulated ductwork, and a variac fan controller. This should help.
A buzzing fan is a concern. Some fan motors, poor controllers, and/or ballast can buzz. I have found most of my noise is from the moving air, not the fan motor.
A muffler WILL help control the fan exhaust noise. I got an extra run of insulated ductwork outside of my grow box - this seems to help. I might move up to a muffler if I get more foot traffic .....

His advice about a big fan only works if you will expand if you don't want to here is some reasoning for fan noise.

Big fans are loud, they make mufflers

If you already have a small fan they don't make mufflers for them because they are relatively quite. If the noise is bothering you you're going to need to make a home made solution. If it's in your room and its light blocked (Like you have a wall of bamboo paper or mylar) to shield the light from waking you up, just hang a big heavy blanket or two over this light barrier, it should muffle the noise from between you and the fan.

No, it's not I already explained I wanted a quiet fan not solutions to quiet down a loud fan, pretty simple.

And the reason I said "don't give me that" is because he acted like I don't know how to wait for an answer when I waited 4 days to bump it.

To everyone else thank you a shitload, gonna do abit more reading and figure out what I'm gonna get
