When I was 15 I worked in the local chip shop on a Saturday, left school at 16 worked making swimwear on a sewing machine until i had my first baby then went back to work doing nights in a care home, did that in between having my other two children until I was 33. Then worked as a scheme manager and doctors receptionist. And now I'm a lady of leisure but not by choice :-(

what on earth is a chip shop granny?
It's a shop that sells fish and chips among other things like sausage fish cakes etc to take away we call them chippys, they are very popular here and when I was a kid they were the only fast food places around. When you go to the seaside the smell of the chippys in the sea air is amazing. ;-)

Grew up on west Texas cattle ranch doing it all from when I can remember until 12. Then junior high was 90 miles away so we moved to town.My dad opened a blacksmith and welding shop and there I worked every summer and weekend except occasional jobs during the school year if he allowed. Generally he wouldn't. Then the Marines and a long line of jobs and old ladies after. Too me until I was 28 to get serious because the old GI Bill expired after 10 years back then. Went into the medical field and done that since 1980 with stints as forest fire hot shot crew member 2 years, horseshoer a lot of summers rather than work in a hospital (certified farrier). Skilled machinist on lathes, mills, surface grinders, heat treating etc. Prototype machinist while going to school in late 70's.

ahh, k, that explains a few things, lol.. i think you live near a few formula1 factories, i'm jealous..
Well don't be lol I would rather live somewhere warm and sunny in the summer and snowy in the winter, here it's just cloudyand rainy, and the country has gone to the dogs, you can't do jack shit here without someone giving you grief.

lol, i pretty much hate the winter time, and the older, ie, fatter, i get, the less and less i'm liking summer, but i have to admit i do enjoy having seasons..
like i said, don't usually look forward to winter, but i can't imagine it being 90 degrees on christmas day and me wearing a tshirt and shorts.. the seasons offer a nice change from one to the next, and for me i'm usually pretty happy to see one go and the next on arrive.. it is the one big thing i like about living on the east coast of the us..

it does get pretty cold in the uk though, no granny?? how often do you get snow?

Heh, At 13 I was working full time on the family farm, by 16 I was working full time on board a lake ship in the galley. At 17 I started stripping on Thursday nights while still working the farm. Went to college got a computer science degree, got Married and managed the IT department of a major ISP. Started A Disc Jockey service in 99 and moved on into talk radio in 2010.

Well not very often really, in 2010 we had a harsh winter it was 15 below which is cold for us, we had a good snowfall on several occasions but when that happens the country goes into chaos, they ran out of grit for the roads the schools closed the trains stopped it was a nightmare but exciting all the same. My boiler kept freezing up and I knackered two hair dryers up trying to defrost it, but I prefer that to what we normally get it seems all our seasons are the same like today it's been really mild which doesn't make it feel very Christmassy at all what's the weather doing where you are?

right now it's 39f, but feels like 30.. very chilly and it's been super breezy all night last night and today as well.. 730 pm as of right now, i'm sure it will get down to close to the 20s tonight..
the past week, last week, was very nice.. highs close to 60 during the day times...

didn't get much snow last year, but 2010 was retarded in the amount of snow we got.. must have had a good 5 feet or so throughout winter. it was a bit much even for around here.. i got a bad feeling we're going to get hammered again this year in snow too.. :(

Well they have said that about here and we do tend to get the back end of your weather, so I'm hoping its snows like mad I love it so does my family when it does snow I put a stew on to cook and we all go into the country side (we live in a town) and go sledging down the hills when we get back freezing cold and soaking wet we enjoy our stew by the fire it's really lovely. But in the summer in order to get any decent sun we go abroad usually to cyprus.

I've had about 40 jobs in 30 years. Several licensed jobs you wouldn't believe. My shortest was 6 hours at a fast food place as a cook as a teen. I was fired for eating all day, before the end of my first shift. I really loved being a cab driver. If there was good money in it, I'd do it forever. Strip club doorman was pretty fun too. If I told too much more, I could be figured out. I will never have a "career" but what a life!

Yard work from 9ish-15/16

15 got my first real job over the summer working at Six Flags, it sucked balls and was really hot the entire summer

16 got a job working as a dishwasher, was worse than the previous job and I quit after a week

18 worked at my friends moms gas station for a few months, sucked balls. We once stacked over 800 12 packs of soda in 4 hours

19 got a job at a movie theater, the job sucked but the people were cool

20 got a job at Starbucks as a barista, stayed there for 4 years, job sucked, shitty people

23 (while still working at Starbucks) got a job as a computer technician, cool people and pretty cool job, was part time

Can't wait to work a job I enjoy..

i always thought being a hack would be a pretty cool job.. maybe in the past when things were a bit safer i'd think about it, but not now, not around here at least..
