Hello pirate, I do appreciate your concern over what it is you "know" I think. That is, of course, if you consider me one of "the guys"; I just showed up yesterday. However, your concern, if it is with me, is misplaced. I have been subjected to that type of concern, "blaming Christians to the point that it's getting kind of passe' like smoking dope in the basement", discussing whether or not there is a hell or maybe the last global warming cycle type of way...But hey; now at age 66, I have decided to live and let live and allow others to think and discuss anything they please, anywhere they want. newsflash: christian/judaic mythology dominates western culture.
those of us taught to think in a different manner are treated very poorly, those of us who believe differntly are bombarded with snide comments, attempts to convert us, and the ohh so paternalistic comments like "ill pray for you" or "you just havent seen the truth..."
even christian minority sects are regularly called "cults" or "servants of mammon" and whatnot, without comment from the "christian" majority.
hindus and other polytheists are often simply ridiculed and their beliefs treated as "quaint" or primitive.
so yeah. those of us outside the club DO think that christians run the western wolrd, and we a re right, even the "obama's a moslem" rhetoric is given a wink and a nod as if his moslemness, or atheism, or hinduism really actuall has something to say about his fitness for office.
those of you on the inside of course focus on every tiny setback to your agenda and treat it as a "sign of the last days"

I didn't intend to start another banal thread about the existence of a god. I meant to illustrate how people will twist a verse that is very straight forward to mean the opposite of what it says just because it doesn't fit into their world view.
I will say though, my christian friends used to always talk to me about god and try to get me to believe. It was almost always emotional appeals. I got pissed off when, after I had my son, they tried to use him as a way to coerce me into converting or believing in something that I can't believe in. I remained friends with them, but let them know that I thought that was in very bad taste. Several of them cut ties with me soon after that. I guess they thought if the birth of a son can't save him... then the devil must have a hold on him, lol.
