Male plants pollinate females and they end up dropping seeds. It's still a female but it's a pollinated female which is useless as smoke.

A clone can do the same thing a plant from seed can do. It's a genetic copy.

Just make sure you pick a good cutting and cut when the plant is 100% healthy.
