soil 50/50 perlite and soil or soiless
try to steer clear of time released nutes/ferts that alot of soils contain
atleast a 3 gal pot

dont over water

plant directly in final container for best results
and use a spray bottle while germinating to be sure not to over water

start with shallow wide waterings working to deeper ones after established

pic up the pot after water learn what it weighs
use this to judge if it needs watering or not

lights can be cfl's i have a really cheap site
http://www.lightbulbemporium.com/spiral_cfls.asp

you want atleast 100w of cfl's a plant

your also want to use " Low Stress Training"
to maximize your light foot print

take $150 of your budget and invest it in JUST lights

probably $40 total for this http://www.horticulturesource.com/pr...roducts_id=248

take the 10 bucks and put it towards fixtures
i usually use the outdoor one with the 2 screw in spots
security light with out the sensor there fairly cheap
they will need to be modified for the bulb to screw in
try to screw the bulb in and its obvious what needs to be done
hack saw fixes this problem in a minute or so

Ok I thought it through I'm gonna grow one plant at a time and worry more about my needs for the pot. Instead of trying to mass produce and get money. That way I can get some experience under my belt before I decide to do 5 plants all at once and lose all of them

Just cause you want to do just one plant doesn't mean the information doesn't apply lol..... You new growers are too funny sometimes thx for the early morning laugh :)

hey bud just some advice
put a 85w 2700 k cfl on 4 sides like a square on top
this would maximize for cost and area the yield with one plant
i got mt carbon filter for like 80 bucks unless your in a legal state i would get one of these
its a 240 cfm 6" carbon filter fan combo
this keeps jackers and LEO off your back
its amazing but there are many people that will happily rob you for your plants about half way through flower just to fuckup the last 2 weeks or just to smoke it them
most dont realize that it useless unless you know what your doing

I'd suggest using soil right out of the bag for your first grow. It has plenty of nutrients for a month until transplanting. A 50/50 perlite soil mix will run out of nutrients fast in like a week. That leaves the new grower with a lot of guess work. Keep it simple no need to mix shit just use the soil. Perlite is inert it doesn't provide nutrients to the plants it will only take up valuable nutrient space. ;-)

auto's run on 1/4 strength nutes the perlite is not only for drainage its also to water down the soil so to speak
i have finished auto's in a 50/50 perlite mix on just water

I'm sorry I get what your saying just thinking about cost effectiveness..something that won't Jack up my power bill and possibly get me caught..trying quietly grow it at an undisclosed location

just some math on the soil
you can grow in 1.5 gal of just soil out of the bag
and then one in 50/50 in a 3 gal the 3 gal will veg faster and probably longer and bigger which in turn will boost your yield
then around 2 weeks after preflower start 1/4 strength bloom nutes
and your plant will be more then happy

well bang for your buck is cfl's its just fluffy buds
leds make very nice buds but a little less and a little longer from what ive seen
135w ufo bloom with 3w diodes and 3 68w 2700k ran 24/7 would run less power then a window unit AC
and would be about $225 invested
thats for fairly low yields
but use that site for cfl's and led's are fairly cheap on ebay just get atleast a 135w with the 3w diodes seeing how its only driven to 90-100 watts of actual output
the "shops" just repackage and mark up most of the same products
