Sorry, H, you're wrong. All income, with a few exceptions (e.g. tax free municipal bonds), is taxable no matter its source. If you bring in a dollar of income, the feds want to know about it.

when you run a co operative grow in Washington, most of us DP and MCG give it out to free to those in need or in our network . .. .. but i guess people like you just talk about smoking it or dont and then tell others what to do . . . . foot mouth, go buy it then tell your guy hes going to have to pay th taxes on that transaction . . . .
id love to take a poll on who pays their sales tax on their sacks but alas i already know the answer

If you grow cannabis and give it away there is no income to report, so you might be clear of tax evasion. I say "might" because I think if the IRS can put a number to your generosity,e.g. they can prove your grew 100 pounds, they will probably hit you with imputed income.

It might not seem fair but the IRS use "imputed income" for tax purposes. I suspect the IRS would use "street value" for cannabis, i.e. $5,000 per pound, you can bet they will use the highest number they can dredge up. So, if you "gave away" 100 pounds, the IRS would hit you with a tax bill on $500,000 income.
I think cannabis should be completely legal, but I am not dumb enough to bury my head in the sand and pretend it is so. Neither are you, by the way.
