I really don't have enough experience with open hoods to advise on the distance man, you could probably get it down to about 10 inches and be safe but you are right since you are in such a quick growing stage its good to give them a little bit of room to work with, ether way man considering what it looks like you have invested in your OP you could only benefit from adding some air cooled hoods, i would link the charts but I'm sure you've seen them, and I'm sure you know how quickly light dissipates...

Hey guys sup.....Was wondering if anybody has ever light bleached a plant?
On my last grow I did and im telling ya watch close about getting 600s-1000ks
too close.

I had only one do it but damn it just stopped growing, and I just overlooked it
cause ive kept my light that close before with no issues.
Also it was kinda in a jungle. When you bleach one you will know IT!

Hey Dr. things are looking great. As far as light distance, I run a small 250 so I keep her very close, around 4-8 inches away. Like you I have a fan blowing between the light and the canopy top so the heat is no issue really. The light intensity is what you have to watch out for like BEECH said. This chart can give you a baseline to work with. Drop the light height a small amount and monitor them closely, if they are fine try dropping a slight bit more each time till you find that "goldilocks" zone. Peace

thanks guys, believe it or not I was thinking of getting a parabolic reflector that's the same size as roof of tents, think i'll start looking at aircooled instead, any links to a good 600w kit (ballast etc) or are they all the essentially the same?

thanks Beeechy, man they got some choice there eh? now do I get air cooled or cool tube? Do these companies try to make things difficult for us consumers by having 27 variations of essentially the same thing? pmsl..... this is gonna take some MORE research me thinks.

I think I gave you that advice over on my thread if my memory is correct. Not trying to take credit or anything just explaining why you couldn't find the post mate. They do look great though even without that extra time, but that would have definitely made all the difference. Looking forward to your WW mainline coming up too Dr. Let me know if I can help or feel free to post any questions over on my thread too, KC and Yankee both would be a tremendous help. Peace

THAT'S why I couldn't find it. lol. fair play mate, you were spot on. I only wish I could have heeded your advice, imagine above with another 10 days veg behind them???? Oooooh pmsl. will post a pic of the 'rooting' clones I intend using for the mainline experiment a little later. they are also the 2 that I have been asking for advice on as regards to them 'knuckling' or rooting outside the rockwool cube so the pics would be of help in that respect too.
