hey today i got my inline fan 530cfm to add to my 4x4 grow tent with a 600w cool tube reflector, and i went to lowes and got 6" insulated ducting cuz i heard that keeps the noize down and it does. BUT the insulated ducting barley fit the the 6 inch hole provided. i was wondering is ther a better way to work with this stuff i mean i had to pull the shit out of the ducting to get it into the tent. thanks.

I am looking to get some of this and would like to get the largest size possible for my tent, I have a 6" vent hole on my tent but think I would also struggle to get the stuff pulled through, I believe the extra width the insulation adds another 2" the the diameter. Can you measure your stuff and confirm if this is true?

I'd be interested to hear ways of making it fit also as the 4" extractor I have is not up to the job of cooling my tent and a larger one will make a larger noise so that will have to be dealt with using acoustic ducting.

By the way, do you have a fan controller on your fan as 530cfm is a bit overkill for your tent I would think. But running a larger fan with a controller will keep noise down from what I have read and it would prolong the life of the fan as it is not running full speed all the time.

Running the larger fan with a speed controller makes a HUGE difference in noise levels. Just make sure to get a decent quality controller. I had been using a speedster, but will not use that thing again. It is very cheap, and I had issues with it in the long run.

here man the answer u are looking for is this thing

that is what goes tho the passage in the tent u tie off into that ...................inside the tent u can use the standard flexible stuff..........it is only outside the tent u worry about heat transfering to the air that it is sucking in

gorilla tape is the answer to every question
no that is Duct tape .......is and always will be the king of all tapes and the handy man secert weapon

7 times around of tape is enough to hold a car to a light pole .................there is not a job on this planet duct tape can not help in some what and i will stake my nutz to that statement

justugh are u saying pull the insulation back and only run the wire tubing through the tent i cant really understand what ur tryna say or maybe im just really tired and medicated

You could always run the standard ducting inside the tent and connect the insulated ducting on the outside of the tent.
Just a thought.

most types of insulated duct work requires just a knife to cut the insulation off. should fit just fine after the insulation is removed. you don't want insulation in your tent anyways.

so no insulation in the tent. so that means just run the wire tubing part through the tent and leave the insulation on the outside pressing up aginst the tent

I would have assumed if you did not use insulated ducting on the inside of the tent also then that would still echo air and fan noise outside the tent.

I personally would run my whole length of ducting using acoustic ducting to have no leaks of noise.

If I am wrong someone please correct me before I think of getting some myself. Noise levels are manageable at the moment but I wouldn't mind just that little bit quieter.

that link i gave to u above it is to a connection peice..............it will fit the hole in the tent very nicely with not much trouble

next time u set up the tent after u finish using this run get some regular flexie ducting for the inside then pass they to the link part and on the other side of that u put the insulation ducting (this is ouside the tent and the air u wanted to keep cooler for the intake to stay cooler)

But how come it didn't work when I tried to give myself a wax?

ya man i took the insulation out of the tent and just ran the tubing and its a tad louder now im kinda pissed but i know its gotta be best for my plants. but while trying to get the ducting with the insulation on throught the tent bent the hell out of the tubing and i got better airflow now...

do you have a setup i can see?

So what are you using now instead?

Just buy a connection piece to run through tent. and put the insulated ducting on each side of that. That way your not trying to squeeze 8 in through a 6inch hole. If your worried about that rattling, they had 6in hose clamps with a rubber fitting at my lowes. they were in the same area as all the ducting.

Just pull the inside duct as far out through the insulation as you can and run it through the vent hole from the middle. Run the duct through the inside of the sleeve and pull the insulation over the outside of the sleeve so it goes flush with the wall from the inside

Sorry I know that picture doesn't show much. After pushing the duct through and sliding the insulation over the tent sleeve go around the outside and take another piece and pull the duct work out from the inside (just push the insulation back, grab the duct and keep pulling it should give you several inches to work with.). Just tape the duct from the new piece to the duct that's coming through your sleeve from the inside

I can getter pics later on sorry if it didn't make any sense my battery is about to die
