If I want to top and use the top as a clone, do I make the initial cut at 45 degrees or should I cut it flat and then make a 45 degree slice before sticking it in water?

hbbum, they're looking awesome. I'll throw pics up tomorrow night. The OGK took off on all 4 mains, the Blue Cheese and White Widow are much bushier plants, so the growth is more compact, but still impressive. Gonna wait one more week then do the 12-12 flip.

First take the clone cut first at 45 degrees a half inch higher than the final horizontal cut. Add your root hormone to the clone and get it into it's media. Next make a second horizontal cut at the exact topping location.


Carlin- glad you are happy with the results. In the end, it's what works for you that counts.

One week later, and everyone's happy and green. The interesting thing to me is how the different strains show such dramatically different growth patterns one week later. The OGK18 shot up like a rocket, all 4 mains racing up. The Blue Cheese and White widow were much slower to show growth on the lower 2 branches, but a week later, both are now showing movement on those branches as new tops. These girls are all 25 days from sprout. One more week and I think I'm gonna flip to 12-12.

Thanks man. I've been studying at the School of Less is More and it seems to be working so far. Just water, a small bit of calmag+ since my tap water is light on it, and one shot of quarter strength Jack's Classic 20-20-20. The Jack's probably wasn't even necessary, but
I thought some of the girls were a bit slow in their growth and dammit it hard not to DO SOMETHING!!! LOL.

Hardest thing in gardening is doing nothing. But, if you want to do something, now would be the time to take those branches and slowly bring them down and to the side of the container. One of my buddies Pinworm posted this little beauty.

You can either use heavy wire straight into the soil or wire run to large paper clips fastened to rim of fabric pot. Something to think about because you want those new main stems to have some space for growing. Later dude.

Thanks for the tip man, I'll give it shot later this evening when the lights come back on. The OGK probably doesnt need it, but the other two could probably benefit from having some room created for the lower set of tops. Enjoy your weekend man!

Good job on the topping! I, too, presented a photo with options my first time. It's so nerve-wracking! But I really like the results -- better air circulation and potentially a higher yield, though not necessarily. Good luck!
