I'm saying that young males are prone to get in trouble at a higher rate than the rest of the population. Throw in high unemployment numbers and it only adds to it.

Sure I will admit young black males in certain areas get into more trouble, but it is environment related, not due to skin color. Also when we have laws that aren't exactially rational it skews numbers. A kid from urban suburbia caught with coke might just get a slap on the wrist, while a kid from inner city caught with crack faces a much harsher punishment.

I never said it was due to skin color. You have to learn Buckhead is a liar. As you stated, it's a function of environment, but that includes culture, too. While poverty may have some influence, it doesn't explain how different groups with the same income levels have very different crime rates. So other factors must be considered. Only a fool would assume the color of one's skin affects thought processes.

While poverty may have some influence, it doesn't explain how different groups with the same income levels have very different crime rates. So other factors must be considered. Only a fool would assume the color of one's skin affects thought processes.

Culture has some part, but lets face it a lot of the problem is our own making. We enact laws based on knee jerk emotion rather than common sense. Harsher punishment does nothing to address to real issues, that won't be fixed by throwing someone in a cell. In order to work laws must be applied blindly. It should even be more strict for those who enforce the rules.

I spent over half my life in law enforcement, I can honestly say our laws are anything but fair. A perfect example is here a kid dropped his rifle which shoot and killed his friend. He was charged with murder. The same thing happened to a firefighter, he only got public sympathy and support. It's just crazy.

The kid was probably not permitted to have the gun. So a death resulted during the commission of a crime, which makes it 1st degree murder. The two situations were different.
