I'm an atheist. I do not believe in any gods or goddesses. I believe in simple TRUTHS: Math, Science, Reasoning. I believe in higher evolution, and man's ability to continually evolve. I do the "right thing" because I want to, not because I'm compelled by some majick sky guy, and not so I can get some reward in the hereafter.

Your trumpeting about the bible though, while living on my ancestral lands, stolen from our tribes, nations, bands, and pueblos -- that's hypocrisy of the highest order. Your entire life - birth to death -- is a statement against your Christianity. As is your pick-and-choose nature of "christianity." Either 100% of the bible is truth, factual, and accurate, or non of it is. It's not a "grab what you want" buffet book.

Your "3 books of Romans" is no more the word of God than the words in this post.

Oh, and Utah's anti-gay marriage law was struck down by the federal appellate court today, another win! That's 18 states, and the feds that realize that everyone should have an equal right to be miserable.

EDIT: My Christianity was disingenuous. I never felt guilt or remorse for anything I did. Just for having to pay the consequences... So, I could never be a "true christian." No matter how much I wanted it to be, or hoped it would be.

Please, folks, absolutely NO NEED to imply that atheists have not read the bible, or to pray for me/us. Trust me, we're fine, and heaven sounds really tedious. I'd much rather get my acceptance letter to Hogwarts than heaven!

That being said, this is a heavy conversation for Toke n Talk. I usually avoid the political section because I don't want to get all puffed up, or get called a "dirty gash" for voicing an opinion. I originally checked out this forum because I thought it was about the night time soap opera, Dynasty. :-) Lesson learned, eh?
 
no surprise. A token reprimand to appease the gay/lesbian community....other than that business as usual.

This show makes the network way too much money to drop it.
 
let's hear from the lesbian:

just my 2 cents worth but i don't care what someone like him has to say but he sure does have the right to say it. i like the show and i would expect him to have those beliefs. i wish he didn't but he does. he is and should be allowed to express himself. if their brand/show can't make it then maybe these companies will keep their beliefs to themselves and keep their mouths shut.
p.s. i eat chikfila too :eyesmoke:

I think you are right. I might not have agreed back then, but a pattern of pandering to the tea party types on reality shows is getting hard to ignore. Discovery channel has it's Gold Rush show - a big hit. Completely trumped-up dishonest show. One group in the show is a led by an ignorant fat-ass who pays constant lip service to god. Names the company 3:16 mining, etc. Despite the fact that the show is a bad circus, it has this vociferous following of red state bible thumpers.

The producers of these shows seem to be exploiting their fans' feelings of the socialist/heathen/progressives ramming our agendas down their throats and attacking their "good old American values" -like fag bashing and barefoot, pregnant wives. This ends up getting them an audience as loyal as Rush Limbaugh's and Fox's.
