IF YOU HAD TO GUESS ... how much have you spent on your op?

I'm in for a thousand, 4 weeks into flowering. Could've saved a few hundred if I had planned it all out ahead of time, but then it probably wouldn't of got done. Lights and more lights (CFL 125 ballast, MH, HPS, 400W ballast, flourescent), dehumidifier, food, extension cords, fans, carbon filter, diy caster trays, temp humidity sensors, more extension cords, surge suppressors, and many trips to Lowe's. Looking forward to an easier 2nd grow.

what happens to our money when we think about growing. > View attachment 937644

hmmmm well so far ive spent about 2000 dollars on my first op and im so broke i want to die. i thought growing would cost me around ... hmmm 80 bucks. little did i know 80 dollars didnt even cover the fucking lightbulb. Im well on my way to growing and getting the money back but my god ... what it took to get here. And im not even close to finished : (.

Bro I know the feeling. I'm so fucking shitty ass broke from growing right now it's just plain...sad. The really sad thing is i still need another 400-500 bux to make things go ALOT smoother sighhhhh. Sofar I think i got about $ 2100-2200 into it and I had some shit lent to me too LOL I would be up around the $ 2800 mark gauranteed. I have approx. 6 weeks left of flowering then a week or so of drying/curing then I get my GD money back plus a little hahaha, just sittin around broke as fuk gardening and cursing not having a dollar to my name, thank god for understanding girlfriends ;) I was just like you thinkin it would be about 60 % cheaper, shyte was I devastationally wrong!!! lol oh well, now I guess I know eh? Next time shit will be set up wayyy different, so much easier, my first grow obviously. I like the thread! peace man ~ BCbuddy :leaf:

( oh I forgot to mention honestly how much work it is to maintain, at least for me anyways. Sometimes balancing g-room work with legit work and just plain life stresses me out so fricken bad it's insane! I have too many plants in a small room and it's overgrowing making things damn near impossible to do in there without moving things around every time jeezus, not complaining tho, itl be worth it! :) I just wasn't prepared for this lol )
I feel your pain. I'm in the same spot. This is fuckin hard work. Be great if I was retired. There's always some problem to fix, and it always costs something to fix it.

sigh... i'd have to say, seeds and nutes and failure all included... probably around a grand or so.. idk really, but that sounds about right. ... and i haven't even produced yet. keeps getting botched and bollozed up. this time things are looking better though, my failures were all years ago, living on the edge, not giving a fuck, impatient, i'm still the same, but at least i've got some patience now, and a decent grow-op. yeah, these fuckers eat cash like nothing, but it pays off in the end, right guys?? ......

you failed the first few times : O . omg , id kill myself if they died. lol. im not " attached " to the plants ... but i spend a lot of time with them. Id be pretty bummed ...

thought about a 2000 watt CFL grow just to test it out 2000 watt's / 100 watt bulbs = 20 bulbs using 23 watts a piece during 18 hours of veg average month runs 30.5 days at 8 cents a kilo watt in my area only equals a $20 a month increase in my growing expenses. I purchase the bulbs for 3 dollars a piece from a warehouse down the road. thats $60 simple 120mm fans cooling each light to an exhaust hose from Ace about $40 worth and a window. Some activated carbon fish filters added in the mix to help control smell. 3 filters for $10.
any ideas to throw in there, just a future idea.

I believe you are mistaken, my friend. Two-thousand watts, is two-thousand watts. It doesn't matter if it comes out of a CFL, a HID, a refrigerator or electric heater. It's all the same, and it'll all cost the same. Using 2kW of CFLs will cost you more actually as you've already pointed out, they are 23W each. So really it's 2,300W you're burning for not as many lumens as two 1kW HIDs. But anyway...

At 2000W, for 18hrs, at $0.08 kW/hr, for 30 days; your additional cost is $2.88/day and $86.4/month.

Just thought I'd let you know for certain before you go on thinking you can add 2kW of load to your house and only expect a $20 increase in your monthly bill. ;)

I was trying to figure this out the other day and I'm guessing up around 2 grand... and this is all to just get started, I'm still getting a feel for all the equipment and atmospheric conditions I've been contending with. I just sunk in another 200 the other day on fan controllers, filters and ONA blocks, and a new 400watt HPS bulb. Should finally have something to show for it all this fall, my first and only test plant was a vigorous White Widow but he turned out to be a boy so he went to the chopping block. Test group 2 is up and running now. It's all about quality and not quantity over here at my house.

Well. This being my first grow ever I went ALL OUT & have spent approx $0 on everything.

I forget what kind of soil I used but It was left over from yard work about 2 1/2 months ago.
Seeds from some decent mids.
Used 44oz Wendy's Cold Cups to start my 5 germ'd seeds.
They sat by window on about 18/6 sunlight for about 3 weeks.
Somehow, I managed to knock over/ drop/ or otherwise kill all but 1 of those 5.
Found 2 CFLs in livingroom.
Transplanted from the 44oz to a 2gal pot.
Lights 12/12

Its a female & smells awesome! No buds yet :(

(I started this grow on some desperate, no job, poor shit. Now Im workin fulltime I will be investing some $$$ in the near future. So please be gentle on the criticism lol)
