I would get some string and tie down the tops that are touching the light. If you just let them burn, then they will be no good at harvest time. Don't just sit there and let them burn. Raise the light if you can.

I've had 100% success with just putting a 1/2'' hole in the soil, placing the seed in hole, covering with dirt, making sure the soil stays moist until it sprouts.

As for fans, just get a regular osculating fan and place it so that it blows air across the tops of the plants. That's pretty much all you need.

I've been using a 3 part nutrient solution from Advanced Nutrients. It's worked well for me. I'm not a hydro guy so I can't answer your setup questions, just make sure you do your homework. Sounds like you got some good advice from your local hydro shop. Keep up the good work.

I would recommend building a DWC cloner. I built one a couple of days ago, and the fresh cuttings love it! No wilt at all! Very inexpensive to make. I would suggest the florescent light for cloning.

A 600w is recommended for a 4x4 tent. I've had my 4x4 tent and with a 400w and it's plenty for my plants. A 600w would be fine for the size room your thinking about, in my opinion.
