Ohhhh I thought the ants were working together with the scales to harm my plants. I feel bad for spraying the ants down with water now.

Can you elaborate? I have been checking buds for those damn catapillars . I have to touch and squeeze the buds to get those suckers out. Will that cause me to get mold? If I don't get the worms out I will get mold anyway though :( wow this thread is 4 years old lol n/m

I don't have as many ants as you, but there are enough for me to notice the scales. I was following the ant trail when I saw the black pods.

Thanks for your help guys. No wonder my leaves were looking lime green. I had the scale infestation for a while but didn't think much of it. I didn't think they would be insects. Well time to go kill em!

What is this? I've been pulling them off and there is a white pinkish powder inside. I see ants around those things too.

Has anyone ever tried making their own silica fertilizer using horsetail(a common herb)? I read that it makes plants more resistant to fungal disease and strengthens flimsy stems with its high silica content. Has it worked for anyone here?
