  • yea that would work 150watt shouldnt get too hot and yea need a adapter for most reflector hoods and for the ballast as well cuz the bulbs are different the MH is fatter than a HPS the HPS kit i got came with a reflector that could take MH and HPS same for the ballast usally all the higher up watts are swapable but for such low wattage the companies do see it as worth while i went with the 400 so i wouldnt have to upgrade later on when i want to grow more plants have you germed you seeds yet?
I looked on like at tx hydro and they have a hps kit for a small area 2x2 same size as mine it is 150watt i asked about the metal halid he said you would have to get some sort of addapter.. i was like wtf i thought i could just swith out bulbs when i needed too.. so what do you think about useing 6500k cfls for my vegi then useing the 150 watt hps for my flower?
ok so im going to start off with 42watt 6500k and then when i switch to flowing take out 6500k and swith to 2700k. is that correct? sry for so many questions just want to do this as right as posible...
yea use 6500k first cuz 2700k stretches seedlings later on when your ready to flower use the 2700 if your going to flower and grow with cfl's make sure you have alot for it and keep them close to the seedlings like maybe a few inches from the tops of the plants the farther the light is from the plants the less powerful it is for the plants and could cause them stretch as well yea if you got a 40watt that should be cool throw in a couple more in there the more the better with cfl's not hids i have a total of 80-90 watts of cfl's in my grow till i swap to my hps
ok i got it! i found 42watt for both 2700k and 6500k... ok so when i start this off i need to have 6500k first? then take some 6500k off and add 2700k? or what how are you doing it?
umm look for 6500k its the total or 5500 each bulb has that much try to get high watts when getting them i went to home depot and couldnt find 6500k so i went to walmart they have them there and each company says different things like soft white bright white and shit like that so just look for 6500k and your good also lumens is different its the amount of light not the spectrum which 2700k and 6500k are they are the colors
say got my seeds. need ur help i went to homedepot and was lookin for cfls i found a 42watt with 2600 lumens now for the 6500 am i looking for a 42watt wirh 6500 lumens or am tryin to add up lumens to 6500. beacuse finding these are hard also am i lookin for daylight, bright white, soft white?
usually what you pay is what you get i paid 195 for mine and it came with a cheapy reflective hood and a bulb with a big ass ballast that weighs like 50 pounds i just need it to grow while i make some of the money back i spend and put more into to where i have a decent set up for personal use
MH is better for veg growth way better than a HPS is better for flower growth but can still grow seedlings and not stretch them to much what i got is a hps/mh fixture and ballast so i can swap them when the time is necessary cfl's work almost the same as a MH but the MH has more power and more heat you have to take all these issues when thinking of a bulb that way you are prepared when you get it and not freak out when the temps go up to 90 you'll be able to control it
yea i can move it around a bit but not to much i dont have a empty closet other wise i would use that and cfl's have their own advantage if it works for your needs then you dont need some big ass heavy and hot hps the bulbs are big and the ballast texas hyrdo sells to you weighs like 50 pounds but the good thing is its not attached so i can put it outside the grow room
yeah well better safe than sry maybe you can switch your room around as for me this is the only space i have. but ac stays on and plus that room dose get pretty cold but the light can change that.. im thinkng of puting the lock on the Restroom door and leave the other door open at all times... Good salution
