I just got back on RIU tonight for the first time in like 4 years. The first thing I searched for was Renfro's name. It's a shame to see he's not around anymore. But it's funny how many of you guys I remember are still on here. Lots of nice people. At one point I put diesel in my Tacoma and you guys helped me out on that too lol.

I've moved from Atlanta to Lake Powell since the last time I was on. Does anyone know shit about growing vegetables in the desert? Good to be back around you guys again! :hump:

I was on RIU but wasn't in this thread when you were here. Welcome back and heya....

We're a lot higher in elevation than Powell....but we have the same basic challenges with Sun, alkalinity, wind, evapo-transpiration....like everyone else in the Western US pretty much.

A shade cloth...don't use the native dirt....be prepared to water 2X a day...and just use the knowledge you have and give it a go. Pick the right plants. Some stuff just isn't heat loving.... but I bet you can make something happen....especially if yer on site/at home a lot to tend to things. Good luck!

Looks like we have the opposite problem. I made it til 4:30AM this morning but I was up at 3AM yesterday morning.

I'm naturally wired like that powder does folks. Not as fun wired...but wired. My wife is the opposite. I gotta take drugs to get 6 hours. She can fall asleep anytime/can sleep 10-12 hours at a time. I haven't done that since the Seconal/Tuinal/Lude days in college. Funny how everyone is wired differently.

Too-many-stories on that topic as well. A college buddy used to fly to Palm Beach from the Midworst and bring back suitcases full of those Rorer/Lemmon bootleg ludes. They were weighed...not counted...so a 1000 lot bag always had extras in it for those who took the time to count em out... (looks around...smiles...stumbles...)

Um...hey....can I get a few of those lines with my Ludes? God...what I remember of the 70's was so much fun. Such an awesome time to grow up even if we are pariahs now. The fuckers have no clue how it really was....and neither did the parents for awhile there.

Coon, possum, squirrel, groundhog, rabbit, deer, long haired weasel, fox, coyote, bobcat, pileated woodpecker, hawk, vulture, snakes, and the occasional bald eagle (I bet they taste like freedom!!!)

I have 2 aerocloners from the old days. The smallest Botanicare unit can run 25 cuttings at a time, the Turbokloner is much bigger. I need neither these days but I can't give them up!
