Exhaust fans as a means of temperature control

I don't know your experience with growing tents but for an exhaust fan to be effective in controlling temperature, several precautions should be adhered to, and you might know all of these but I'm just saying: 1- intake vent should be at a low point in the tent in order for the air column to...

Question about Mother Of All Blooms (MOAB) NPK 0-52-32 Claim!!!

Thank you. That makes perfect sense actually. I also think that MOAB is a rip off now that I know a little more about fertilizers. In my country MKP is very cheap indeed.

Question about Mother Of All Blooms (MOAB) NPK 0-52-32 Claim!!!

I don't know if I'm missing something, but the other day I was holding my MOAB package and I noticed that it is derived from Mono-Potassium Phosphate and Mono-Ammonium Phosphate. Now the Mono-Ammonium Phosphate contains 12% nitrogen. How come the label of MOAB indicate an NPK of "0"-52-32...

Worth complementing the light on Bloom?

Thank you for the link. Growweedeasy was my main go to resource when I started growing a few years ago and I think I have read pretty much everything on it, like literally :D, they keep updating their content based on the latest advancements but again thanks for the link man. For your area of...

Worth complementing the light on Bloom?

You're correct. Research has shown that light quantity is more important than light quality (light spectral distribution) up to a certain degree of course. I mean don't expect to give plants only red or only blue light and call it a day. As long as there is a mixed spectrum of light, then light...

Worth complementing the light on Bloom?

Yes, it's well known that if you grow under red light alone any plant will elongate and stretch like crazy. I also have blurples and they keep my plants short and bushy. Mine have about 15% blue spectrum and this seems to be a good ratio of blue. The light you linked has all the essential...

Worth complementing the light on Bloom?

I have another opinion and people in here can pitch in and correct me if I'm wrong. The 6500k LED has so much blue in it especially if you're going with a 100W one. Blue spectrum reduce cell expansion and that's a good thing in Veg and when you want to keep plants short and stubby during the...

    36"x20"x62" Setup?

Your thinking is totally correct and that's exactly how it works. Actually I personally prefer having two less powerful lights instead of one more powerful light for better light distribution and heat management. So yes you can go ahead and acquire another one of those Growstar 300W(108W Actual...

Hlg 550 vs LED strip light 480 w

Thanks for this super-cropping idea. I read about it in the past but never used it. I will give it a try.

Oh, it didn't cross my mind that so much defoliation can actually stop stretching but it makes sense somehow, thanks for the info!

The light was initially about 30" because it runs so damn hot but now those plants just shoot through and are about to touch the top of the tent, very sad to see. I'm not able to do anything because I visit my friend like once a month and he's kinda clueless about this stuff. They are bagseed...

Hlg 550 vs LED strip light 480 w

Oh get off your high horse :D:D A few months ago I set up two growing tents for a friend of mine who doesn't know anything about growing, one for veg and one for flower. I went with the old and trusted MH and HPS, effective and cheap. So I'm not like an LED fanatic by any means. I just go with...

Oh God, I wouldn't buy this BlackDog Light in a million years! What I have are cheaper LED lights that have a a similar spectrum as BlackDog's although mine are lacking in two area: they don't have much blue light as BlackDogs and they also lack a little in the green spectrum but still they work...

Hlg 550 vs LED strip light 480 w

Okay, well, yes and no. PPF is the total output of a certain light fixture. Knowing the area on which this light hits, we can calculate the average PPFD for this light at a certain distance. Then if we know the area of the plant leaves exposed to this light, we multiply this leaves area by the...

Hlg 550 vs LED strip light 480 w

Well whatever the case maybe, I appreciate any reaction I get especially if it is that much entertaining to people :D :D cheers! On the serious side though, if you know of an experiment or forum post where someone tried both types of light on clones from the same mother with identical feed and...

Hlg 550 vs LED strip light 480 w

Well I'm not a lighting expert but I kinda understand the difference between PAR and PPF. Let me try to be technically correct as much as I can. When I say that the PPF should be weighted against the plant's spectral response, I technically meant that the PPF of incident light on a plant should...

Hlg 550 vs LED strip light 480 w

First let me say that I agree with a lot of your statements and kudos to you for building your own lights. What I can say is this, yes green light matters and is in fact photosynthitaclly active contrary to what light manufacturers previously believed. but things should be taken into context...

Hlg 550 vs LED strip light 480 w

Very true, the end product is what counts and for small growers, power efficiency shouldn't matter that much if at all but for large scale growing, compromises will be made in order to lower the electric bill.
