    cpu heatsink issue

Thanks for the help everyone. I have decided to attach the vero 18s to the underside of a piece of 4"x1" aluminium u channel, i will thermal epoxy the intel heatsinks with fans to the rear directly above the leds. My thinking is that the extra surface area of the 3mm thick aluminium being blown...

    cpu heatsink issue

Thanks for the advice, Epoxying an extra square of aluminium between the vero and heatsink sounds like it would work, but would it have much effect on junction temperature due the additional layer of thermal epoxy. I have seen some reasonably priced xilence l240 heatsinks and fans and am...

    cpu heatsink issue

Hi snaps that might be possible but it would be alot of work as the raised part is about 6mm. I think it would probably need grinding or milling flat. thanks andy

    cpu heatsink issue

Hi everyone, I recently purchased 13 intel heatsinks with fans for a vero 18 build. The issue is the heatsinks have a raised circle in the middle that would of sat on the processor in the pc. Well this raised circle doesnt quite cover all of the square metal part on the back of the vero, it...

    Dutch Passion LED

Hi fanofpanic can I ask why you call me a troll and spammer for asking someone a question about their grow? Also my opinion is that Diy is the best way for quality leds on a budget. Thanks andy.

    Dutch Passion LED

Hi viracochadwc how many grownorthern panels did you use on the 388g automazar and were they the ms004 or 006? That was an awesome grow and a beast of a plant. Thanks andy.

    Cree and Bridgelux comparison

Hi rahz I think you should be able to use the driver you planned on using with the cree chips with the vero. You need the drivers minimum voltage to be below the chips minimum voltage and the driver maximum voltage to be above the chips maximum voltage. As long as your chips operating voltages...

    my warehouse led bud

Good spot Guod. Your correct the angle I should of used is larger than 30 degrees due to the diameter of the led. I would also think your correct with the maximum coverage being about 43" but I still think the main coverage area (highest intensity) would be around 30" and the intensity...

    my warehouse led bud

I think what petflora suggested would be very helpful, a quick bit of rough trigonometry with a 60 degree reflector the main coverage area should be about 27" diameter at 24" high and 41" diameter at 36" high, but I think that due to the dimpled reflector It could be slightly off. Thanks andy.

LED Size Advice for Grow Room

Hi Joobjoob that light looks interesting could you let us know some more details please. Such as what components were used and where they were sourced from as $40 to build a 600w led is a bargain. I have been planning to build a 250w led and its going to cost around £150. Thanks andy.

So many choices, please help me decide.

Thanks again mr flux you really have been a great help. I will look into using profile but I think with 5 chips mounted on an 80cm length it will get too hot, I did consider using 80cm lengths of 4"x4" aluminium square tube with a 4" pc fan blowing through each one but dont know if it would be...

So many choices, please help me decide.

Hi greengenes Hope im not being rude answering your question to mr flux. I believe it is a graph mr flux compiled to show me how the 4000k vero 10 at 350ma would compare to the cree xte 3700k used in the area 51 panel where they're run at 750ma. hope this helps and im sure mr flux will...

So many choices, please help me decide.

Hi again mr flux. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me. Would the above graph scale across all the vero chips or would there be gains to be had by using few larger chips at higher currents. I am working to a budget but if spending a little extra on the larger chips seems...

PICO's DIY Thread - Advise, Ideas and Technology - NO PANEL REPS!

Hi picograv. initially I did plan on running fewer larger chips such a 4 vero 29 but couldn't find reasonably priced drivers. I then started looking at the smaller vero chips and trying to work out the best positioning and amounts needed. I then looked at using 9 vero 18 in three rows of three...

Ive also just realised that as a bonus you get an extra 20 lumens for each 4000k chip compared to 3500k. So thats a nice extra 480 lumens overall. I think you might of convinced me 4000k is the way with that graph. thanks andy.

So many choices, please help me decide.

Hi mr flux. thanks for the link I will have a good read but fear a lot of it might go over my head. As for that graph if the area 51 panel is as good as I think it is, then the vero 4k should be ideal as it seems to be better in every way than the xte 3700k. I was thinking I might need to...

PICO's DIY Thread - Advise, Ideas and Technology - NO PANEL REPS!

    Hi everyone. I am currently in the planning stage of a diy led light for a 1m x 1m x 2m tall tent. my plan so far is for 24 vero 10 leds in 5 rows in a pattern like below. x-x-x-x-x -x-x-x-x- x-x-X-x-x -x-x-x-x- x-x-x-x-x (x= 1x v10, -= case, X= 2x v10) i would be using 6 x 120v 350ma...

Thanks for all the help. Just to let everyone know that I have decided that I will be going for a diy led. It will most probably consist of 24 vero 10 leds. I will carry this topic on in picogravs diy thread as it may be of use to other people looking for the same information and there is more...

    Which should I get?

Hi everyone. Just a suggestion, would it be worth emailing area51and explaining that you are interested in purchasing some of their leds but that you would need to buy them through amazon. I know if I were running a business and had customers waiting to buy my products I wouldn't think twice...
