Ph pens cant read organics, so thats not going to help. In my opinion , sell the ph pen or just throw it on the shelf for other purposes.
If you are using good dry amendments and good soil then you will not need to ph anything ever. its a complete waste of time in my opinion.

Ph down will not "hurt' things in organics as much as people think BUT @Kushash is dead on in assuming 4 out of 5 new growers are making things worse by reading their ph.

Fact is , in good soil, you can water with 8.7 for 6 months before seeing a slight change in medium ph. (by then 99.9% of us are in new soil or medium)

i think you meant EC meters can't read organic solution

ph pens can read in both mineral and organic nutrient solution

it's a good thing to use phosphoric acid to lower it when you have tap water ph value like 8.5, or you will get deficiencies

before i put my two cents in , i will tell you that in my opinion , you will not hurt anything by adjusting to 6.8.

PH pens read by way of EC. Most organic food has no EC in it to speak of.... its only released once the microbes do their job.
Sure the meter will give you a reading but its not accurate at all....or even close when mixing water with organic food.

For example: Earthjuice reads about 4.0 once mixed up. You can ph up it if ya want but it wont need it as its not really 4.0. You can use at 4.0 forever without issues.

I have 500 PPM tap water and here are my current plants. I just let it sit out for 48 hours for the chlorine.
