10 days in having some problems.

This is my first grow and I have a few questions about my sad plants.

I am using a mix of 70% fox farm ocean forest and 30% perlite. I am 10 days from sprout and have been watering with plain distilled water. For some reason I'm getting some what slow growth and all the leaves are curling down and inward, very twisty. I noticed today that one of my plants has a couple of brown spots on the lower set of leaves and purple looking veins.

I haven't been over watering because I only water once and 2 or 3 days and I haven't added any nutrients because the ocean forest should contain everything to grow for 30 days.

What could be the cause of this?

Thank you!

Well I had added the perlite to lighten up the soil. I am using 12 cfls about 2 to 3 inches from the tops of the plants. I cannot currently get pics but the best way to describe them is that they are very droopy and kind of dark green. They're curling in towards the stem almost like a ball of leaves. As for the brown spots I do not see any signs of bugs but I'll have to do some more investigating.

Thank you for the response and anyone else who wants to chime in please do!

Waaaayyyyy too much watering.
Water once or twice a week, that's all it needs.

Alright cool I'll definitely wait to water for a few days. Could overwatering contribute to the brown spotting and purple looking veins also?

Thanks!

Sorry to chime in again so soon but do you think that just using distilled water could cause a deficiency in minerals?

I have to say, young plants don't seem to like FF full strength. I would cut it back with 50% happy frog or black gold seedling soil to dilute it. The perlite will make it drain better which delivers a load of the guano and nutrients to the young plant. You probably stunted/burned it. I would get it out of that soil pronto.

Yikes so by cutting it with perlite I actually did the wrong thing *face to palm* Well I had planned on transplanting in a week or so but it was going to be into more ffof.

So if I just leave them be and water them with as normal should they recover when they get bigger?

Thanks!

yeh they should be fine. tat ocean forest has everythin they need for bout the first month. jus wait til the top inch of soil is dry before you water n wait til your plants tell you they hungry before you feed... easy way to tell when the bottom leaves start to get a yellow tint its a nitrogen deficiency, then feed

First off got any pics Oust? That would help. Second, just about everyone I know that uses FFOF adds perlite to it. Usually along with some straight potting mix. Straight out of the bag. Too hot for young plants.

I agree with above. Most delute that soil 1/2 way, but for tender new seedlings- way too hot. You should start them in something mild like pro-mix for a few weeks. Than replant in your mix.
