10 hans 85w or 1 AT600

im considering switching to LEDs after watching GGs AT600 vs 1000w HPS comparison, but for the price of 1 AT600 i can get about 10 hans 85w panels.
i dont know much about LEDs so i just want an expert opinion of what may be a better investment.
i know the AT is better quality but wouldnt i get way more coverage and output with 10 panels instead of 1?

Yes,you will .But also you'll have to figure out how to hang ten panels in your grow space.

is it possible to hang up 2 for every 4x4 space and 4 parallel to the plants to provide light to the lower parts in a 4x12 grow tent? or do they have to hang from the tops?

2 on top is not enough, I'd put at least 4 (6 is better) and then the rest on the sides (for each 4/4 space). You can squeeze 9 Hans on top in a 4x4. I feel like 6 is already enough and you can use the others as side lighting and have a badass set up. Thats what Im planning to do and I would take the Hans over the AT for sure even if the quality and efficiency seems better with AT, but the benefits of multiple, small, lighter, independently height adjustable Hans panels cant be beaten IMO.

has anyone tested the hans panels with a par meter yet? and do we know what bins are used in these? how efficient are those leds?

i'm in a similar position, i want to build a grow cabinet out of 2 100x60cm ikea pax cabinets, each with 2 chambers so 4 in total. as the hans panels are the lowest in height avaiable they would fit perfectly for my project. i would put 3 in each 100x60x100cm chamber, so i would have 240watts per 0,6 sqm, would this be enough?

that brings the total amount of panels needed to almost 20 then. way too many cords for me, but thats the kind of insight i needed and why i started this thread, thanks but now i see why the AT is so expensive and im kind of leaning towards it a little more now.

I think 2 Hans (even the 65 watters) are plenty enough for a 100cm x 60cm space.
3 would be more than ok.

Are you stuck on only Hans or AT? Have you investigated other brands that may also be suitable for your needs? All those Hans panels would be crazy to wire up...cables everywhere!

Vlad is right about a minimum of 4 hans over a 4x4...............Also you must keep your girls SHORT under it. With the AT fixtures you have more strain "flexibility" due too the tight secondary lenses.

I would also go with less clutter when dealing with that many panels==== you will lose coverage/ canopy management though; as usual you can't have it all!

from what i have read, those are the 2 best options but i didnt realize i would need 4 hans for every square meter. what other brands do you recommend or should i wait a bit for prices to drop because i tried to use the code GG provided and its not valid anymore so 2 ATs are going to cost me about 5 stack$$$

Yep hanging lots of panels can be tricky but it does offer advantages like better spread, more adjustability to the shape of the canopy and no need for lenses

when i started this thread i was going by the specs that bonzai stated which was one panel for a 2x2 space. i didnt realize i would need that many. hans are totally out of the question now

Have you considered the 65w Hans? I am hearing the 85 runs a bit hot and could be from using the same heatsinks (from what I know)

Someone just started a thread stating they got 87g from 65w on the Hans.

It all boils down to what you want to spend your time doing. If you have no problem taking the time adjusting x10 panels in your space then yea, id go that route. But if you want simplicity of hang, adjust, and tend to the plants instead, or take a nap... Then the AT will guarantee the coverage wherever you decide I hang it. Maybe ou could save some $ getting the lower watt version Hans. (~50 each) and I would imagine you could flower in a 2x18" per panel, then with the overlap from each other- you should be able I 2x2 each one.

Their website has the price specs. I believe they're still having a summer sale on everything.

I am not the best person to talk about lighting an area your size, as I merely have a 4x4 tent, and I'm running 1 XGS beside an Apollo8 with a couple of 46W T5HO (for now...may end up getting a RW75 to replace the T5).

I reckon you could get away with 2 - XGS and maybe 1 - RW75 per 4x4 area...so, 6 - XGS and 3 RW75 for your 4x12 space.

What would be the coverage of 1 XGS surrounded by 4 RW75s tilted about 10° toward the XGS?
That'll grow some rocks I would think. And yeah OP Hans is for the home grower primarily IMO. There are better solutions.

i checked the a51 but im still leaning on the AT600, just looks like a lot less trouble and better in the long run. when i read GG's thread last night the code was suppose to drop it down to $1900 but $2500 is a little too steep. might have to get 3 hortilux hps and wait for another discount offer to drop. i need 2 but that extra 1200 took me by surprise i thought the price would go down not up.
the set up i want is 2 AT600s for flowering and some T5s in the other m2 for vegging so i can run a perpetual

I'd shoot AT an email, very down to earth guys. Worked with me when the code "didnt work" (how I wanted) for an at200, surely two 600s will be more incentive.
