10 Weeks and No Amber Waves of Trichs

My girls have been in the flowering stage for over 10 weeks and still no sign of amber trichs. The pistils/hairs have receded into the buds and the fan leafs are turning yellow and falling off. I don't know the strain....bagseed grow. Are there any other signs of maturity that would be a deciding factor whether to harvest or wait? Pics are on later thread.

Wait for amber

Sativas can have bouts of bud growth slowdown - for a week more - followed by bouts of new growth, and new trichome production.

It's hard to get good pics of trichs, hard to really see them welll without a real microscope. I've heard some trichs never go to amber and the thc level can deteriorate if you wait too long to harvest. If I were you I'd take a little popcorn bud, quick dry it and try it. If it meets your expectation or even pretty close, I'd chop it.

THIS IS NOT MINE JUST TO GIVE YOU A TASTE OF THE THREAD

Another very important (imho) reason to let your plants mature is Terpenoid production. Terpenes are responsible for alot of the complex (And enjoyable) flavours that cannabis produces. Some of the most intense flavours are produced on the "downslope" of cannabis's life cycle. My personal experience with this first came when i was growing GH cheese. One of the plants i harvested at 8 weeks and it tasted pretty nice and had pretty dense buds. The other i grew until about 9 1/2 weeks and it had most amazing, sour, skunky, delicious taste with rock hard buds.

Here is my interpretation (and maybe exaggeration) of a scenario i see all too often...

I'm a new grower and i've been reading all this great information about when its time to harvest. Theres pictures and everything!!!

Look at my trichs, they look nice and milky with a touch of amber just like the ones in the picture that says its harvest time now!!!

So i just have one question....

Does this look ready to you?

Some 'loose budded' sativa types can take 15 wks or more to finish. Let it go. If the leaves are dying, just watch the cola itself for any decay.

lol thats so fucking hilarious how people dont think certain type of marijuana will not turn amber, so what are you saying they are different types of plants? a sindica? a revoulutionary plant that never matures, give me a break

ps - yes i can say why, BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE DONT LET YOUR PLANTS MATURE LONG ENOUGH. im sorry but fuck people do some reading about the biology of cannabis, do people juist read shit off this website and pass it down cause its on here? why would a plant not mature? people say indicas need about 8 weeks, in the 10 years ive grown, ive picked 2 strains at 8 weeks, TWO, ive grown hundreds of strains and have never thoiught to pick before at least 9 weeks, do you know why? because THEY ARE NOT READY lookat the trichs your trichs should be at LEAST 50 percent amber for your weed to be any type of decently potent, unless they are, the canabinoids DO NOT form all the way and are not ready for MY personal consumption, when i smoke weed i like to get fucking high not half high and disapointed cuase i picked my plants a week earlier because i couldnt wait after waiting the 150 days i did to veg and flower it. im sorry im ranting im just so sick of people harvesting premies it drive me crazy, also typical sativas (you know the real ones, not the ones that says 12 weeks flower) typically take anyuwhere from 15 - 20 weeks to flower, and if you dont beleive me look at any journal or ask any REAL grower who has grown sativas, they are tropical marijuana, their flower monthes are very long, in fact they never end in some places, marijuana flowers all year around, again sorry if i came off as a dick but ALL MARIJUANA MATURES by saying they dont get amber is saying a plant doestn finish, if a plant doesnt finish YOU didnt let it, if YOU didnt let it its your fault, not the trichome, SCISSORS DONT KILL PLANTS, PEOPLE DO!!!!!!!

what do you mean by 'loose budded'?

Also my sativa's are the same way. I havent seen a single amber trichome and they are comming up on week 11. The buds are growing out of the buds (is this loose budded?) and then they stop and I think they're going to ripen and again more buds grow lol. Hey I am not complaining just being patient!

Exactly!

If you had lost patience you would have missed out on that new growth. Eventually the plant finishes flowering, and the trichs stop producing THC (amber)

some strains dont turn amber

dude tell me a strian that doesnt turn amber i will personally grow it, im at 10 weeks flower right now i will chop in probably another 2 weeks, then i will grow your supposed non amber turning trichome strain, i will bet anyone here any amount of money i can make them turn 50/50 amber/cloud 0 percent clear, do you know why my friend? i have the patience, i dont need to pick my premature buds to smoke them because i know if i leave em they will be really ready to pick, so anyone here wants to accept the challenge, give me the strain name that doesnt turn amber, i will buy the seeds, take a pic of the breeder pack, when they arrive, i will start my first ever grow journal grow some arm sized colas, and when they turn amber whoever says strains dont turn amber permanatley shuts the fuck up and stops spreading MISINFORMATION, if im wrong and i cannot get them to mature i will personally send you my whole crop, delivered. my challenge ill throw it down
