1000 watt and clone question?

Hi RIU was wondering if someone could please help me decide if my clones need nutes or not. I have clones which just rooted and I put them about 3 feet away from my 1000 watt hps. There in 5 gallon dwc buckets with ph'd tap water right now. Should I add nutes right now or wait? I'm using Advanced nutrients grow, micro, and bloom. Thank you + rep for help.

From the picture it looks like it is doing just fine. If you have a decent root mass growing I'd try 1/4 strength nutes and see what kind of response you get from the plant.

Well the picture is my mother plant. The clone is still really small like I said above it just got roots a few days ago and was put into a bucket 2 days ago. Thank you for the quick response though la9.

I'd wait awhile for the nutes until you have a decent amount of roots showing from the clone.

1000 watts for clones is a bit strong. Along with being 3 feet from the clones could being giving them to much heat and not enough humidity. I would try a cheep TL - florescent setup you could get at Lowes. Most use 2 fixtures, 4feet long and get both the cool and warm bulbs. Last time I bought some the ballests were 8 dollars each and 7 dollars for 2 bulbs. Many also make a different space for their clones outside of their primary veg and group room. Simple plywood box with hinged door works great. To put in the box I would also suggest a humidity dome for just started/cut clones. Keeping new cut clones close to 100 percent humidity is optimal and slowly reducing that humidity as you seem them root, getting to about 50- 60 percent humidity for veg.

For nutes, use very little for the first 2 weeks, after you see them completely rooted (2 weeks should be good) you can start feeding them complete strength. Slowly introduce more nutes, but 1/4 strength may be right at first.

Hope this helps,

I use CFL's for clones... (2) 100W 6500K screwed into a hardware store reflector kicks ass. I gave my clones Olivias clone solution in a home made aeroponics box and the roots are growing like mad.. in only one week.

You hve done a great job if you have managed to get clones going through a 1000watth.p.s.and has soon has the plants have roots get them on a low regiment of veg.

What kind of reflector did you get at the hardware store ? DIY ductwork one ? Do they have actual reflectors ?
