Seriously I'm about to switch over completely to led, I'm still rocking the single ended 1000w hps in the extra large adjusta•wing open hoods and a few 630 cmh. The adjustawing batwing style hood really help spread the hps light so I get decent pulls. All in all I can't complain- I've done well with HID lights in a sealed room, minisplit and co2 but can't wait to upgrade fully to led
Dude, I use the old technology too.....and I ain't changing. No way. Would I save some $ on the electric bill? Yeah. Would I have more ceiling height? Sure. Would my plants be more healthy than they are now? No. Would I get more yeild? Not sure. Just my .02
Dude, I have no idea what my gram per watt is. The most I've pulled off my PlushBerry was 9 zips and my Garlic Bud usually around 6 or 7. I have nothing against people running LED's, it's just I hate change and the old technology is solid and cheap to replace and works like a charm. It's the only way I know how to grow.
Bro I was right there with you until recently. I could post a picture of my 4 1k watt ballasts all waiting for either a capacitor or igniter to be fixed. I could line up all my eye hortilux bulbs that still work, but I replaced after way too long on the job. The only ballast that still works for me is my 600 watt. XXXL hoods laying around taking up space. I ended up getting a bunch of LED lights from the best deals thread and haven’t looked back. Before I left HPS completely I did a side by side and the LEDs were rocking it on the HPS until that last ballast died. The maintenance cost plus a he bulbs are just way too much.
