Yes I have done this for a while but I run mine at 50% till I sex the plant then 100% for the next month and then back it down to 75% for two weeks then 50% again I 've tried it every way but this seems to yield the best for me...it's close to running it full power then whole time...I've always run at 50% till they sex keep the light nice and lower to keep strech from being retarded...good growing

I'm on my first grow so I'm working on seeing where my temps are with certain settings. Not sure what you mean about work your way up, but mine goes at 50% sometimes and other times all the way. Just depends on the temp.
