Day 24

Plants are looking great. Strong growth....growing a little taller than I expected but I guess that's what you get with sativa dominant plants. Had to trim away a lot of the canopy to allow the light to get to the lower bud sites (which are still located above the screen). Starting to smell really good...sweet, nice and pungent. Also trimmed away some more of the lower canopy and did some cleanup around the trunks.

Looks like the Big Bud was a good idea and I think the plants are responding well to it. Look pretty good for day 24 I must say! Hopefully they continue to thrive. I'll be back with a video update sometime soon...for now we'll have to make do with some pictures. Threw one in of my beagle...lol.

Check em' out--

Thanks--forgot to mention that I added some CFL's as well. More light = better results! Looks a little non-professional I guess haha but who cares...figured the corners could use a little more light anyway!

The extra CFL's can't hurt IMO. If you got the money to pay the electric bill who cares what it looks like as long as you're packing on the bud weight. And yea, for a 5/5 space you have allot going on, you're space looks maximized really well. I personally wish I was in the same position as you, because you're going to harvest like a pound off those ladies.

Cheers Fattycaps,

Thanks for posting in my journal, else I would've never known of this cool journal. Chocolope is part of my regular rotation and has to be one of my favorite sativas! Holy cow, what a beautiful aroma from flower to your bowl. Also, the taste is awesome all the way to the end of the joint/bowl.

Nice looking setup and all. Good luck on this forest of buds!

Thanks man! Yea it was my favorite strain in Amsterdam so I thought I'd give it a shot. Sticking with your journal as well....can't wait to see your results! I love looking at pictures of people that are growing the same genotypes to see how they turn out.

Good luck!

Day 26

Picture update. Girls are looking good....starting to get some crystals and they smell pretty nice. Buds look like they're beginning to form....definitely pleased. Good internode spacing, nice white hairs--look great all around. They definitely have that "aire" to them, or that look MJ plants get when they're happy.

Changed the rez today, added a fresh 25 gallons. Lowered the ppms to about 1100--i noticed some spots on one of the chocolopes which could be nute burn. Backed off a little bit just to be safe.

Check again soon for another video, I'll be posting one soon.

Here's the video...decided to take it tonight while the secondary lights were on. Thought it looked good haha. Day 26 into flowering. Sorry about the camera shake, I got this while the lights were off and I didn't do a very good job. Next one will be better. Enjoy!

Looking good man... I'm 5 days behind you. I took that leaf that was freaking out and I chopped it off my plant. I haven't seen anything like our "cold" on any other parts of the plant. So far so good right? Can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work.

Thanks man. Like I said in my prior post, I think it was a little bit of nute burn. I backed off the nutes a tad and dropped my ppms down. It wasn't bad, so I think I was just slightly off. Plus as my water levels would drop, my ppms would rise, which tells me that the plants were taking in more water than they were nutrients. When the perfect balance is met, the ppms shouldn't fluctuate with the water level. Hopefully all is well now--time will tell!!!

Just out of curiosity, what was the flower time on your GC?

I heard it was a 45 day strain
Could be...mine definitely wasn't. I have a microscope and I was always checking the trichs...took well over 60 days to get them to be about 90% cloudy and 10% amber. Maybe mine just took a little longer...who knows. Definitely curious in your results though to see if you finish a little earlier.....

At the rate they are flowering I really don't see 45 days happening either... I haven't seen any trich development yet... Which is slightly disappointing. I mean you take a look around at the other journals and other strains seem to be doing better at this stage in flower. It could also be because I put them strait into flower from the cloning chamber, and most of them where hardly 6 inches by then. Hoping to see something happen over the next 2 weeks! :O

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Just keep toughing it out, some take longer than others. On my last grow it took well over 80 days for a few of my plants....definitely longer than I originally thought haha.

Day 39

Hey! Been a while since my last update.....but I guess that's a good thing because 1) makes this update just that much better and 2) not much is changing so I'm not having to do a whole lot other than just watch my buds grow lol.

Things are on the up and up--buds are swelling and starting to get nice and frosty. Plants are still looking great and thriving. I've only had one problem on this grow thus far, and it actually turns out it was from using the Big Bud. Some spots started to show on my Chocolope leaves (which you can see in the third pic of the Chocolope below), which immediately looked like a Ca deficiency to me. So I added more Cal Mag. When this didn't do the trick, I thought that maybe I had diagnosed incorrectly and it was actually a minor case of nute burn. This helped slightly but the problem was still there.

Turns out that by using Floralicious Plus in conjunction with Big Bud on top of LUCAS was adding waaay too much potassium to the nutrient solution. This was causing a K toxicity. A K toxicity blocks out Mg and Ca. So it WAS a Mg and Ca deficiency, I just had it pegged for the wrong reasons. Either way, it wasn't a major problem, only appeared on a few of the leaves and the plants still look great--thought I'd share in case others run into the same problem.

Really all there is to say....closely approaching day 40 and two thirds of the way there! Enjoy the pics and look for a video soon.
