1000W too much light for my setup??

Hey there fellow growers!

Alright, well this may be a pretty dumb question, but I'm a newb, so help me out..
I'm getting ready for my 1st grow and I'm trying to find the right light for just my flowering chamber. I have a closet space I'm gonna use for this that's approx. 2.5x3.5 with a 8 Ft. ceiling

My original idea was to go with a Lumatek 600w digital ballast, Yield Master II Supreme, Hortilux HPS bulb, and cool tube the whole setup.

I recently found a 1000w system with a Sun System 1000w Budget Grow ballast, Yield Master II Supreme, and a bulb all for $150!!:shock:

My only concern is, do you guys think that's too much light for my small room?
Obviously, I would have to cool tube the 1000w system, but is there ever such thing as too much light?

Get back to me with any opinions.. thanks

I don't think it's possible to harm the plant as long as temps are under control. There is a point where it's kind of a waist. If you get it for a lower price and don't mind the extra power usage I say go for it. Don't forget to factor in the costs of your cooling stuff because I think the 1000 watt might makes temperatures considerable hotter then the 600 in a room that size.

Thanks man.. Yea, I planned on having whichever system I go with air cooled regardless because I eventually plan on putting some co2 in there.

Do you know if there's really that big of a difference in the electric bill between 600w to 1000w? I'm only gonna have it on for 12/12 since it's for my flowering chamber..

you can get light bleaching but thats really a problem with having the light too close. with an 8 foot ceiling you should be perfectly fine as long as you can control the environment and keep it from getting too hot. even with a cooltube a 1000watt can raise temps a lot! gl

I reckon a 1000w would cost 40% more than the 600w. Double the wattage, double the price.
