Alright i don't know if this is new but i haven't found one on here or anywhere else. Forgive me if this is old news. So im staring a DWC system and i made some insulators for my 5 gallon buckets. it might work for other systems to, but im not sure.. I wasn't going to do an experiment but once i saw the difference i thought someone might find this a cheap fix to overheating rez tanks.
I bought some cooler liner from the hardware. Its like bubble wrap but reflective. The price wasn't that bad, 13 bucks for the roll i got. It did all 5 buckets perfect. they had bigger rolls and im sure you can get it at the depot. I warped the buckets and put some Velcro straps to hold them.

so for the experiment i put one bucket in the grow room with the liner and one without. both buckets had 65 degree water in them and 70 degrees room temp from the start. theirs a 1000 watt MH about 3 foot from the tops of the buckets. I turned off the vent fans and let the temp rise.
After about an hour the temp got up to 90 both buckets only raised about one degree. so i left it alone for about 3 hours. when i came back the liner bucket was at 66.9 and the one with out was 69.4 room temp was 95 degrees.

![69.4 no liner.jpg](/data/attachments/1042/1042213-e8d39b88065241ec43732c6d8f571f18.jpg)
![66.9 with liner.jpg](/data/attachments/1042/1042208-da92ffa88f613fd3bf74f8456075805f.jpg)
so i let it sit another 3 hours. i had the vent fan turn on every hour so it dident get to hot. this time the bucket with the liner was only 67.8 and the one without was 73.9
![67.8 with liner.jpg](/data/attachments/1042/1042209-ac7d574faa775125f208d21895a95bc1.jpg)
![73.9 no liner.jpg](/data/attachments/1042/1042217-57387147544ba08604b90b04b3f38073.jpg)
so i decided to leave it a little longer. So i came back 7 hours later and the room was 101 degrees and the bucket with the liner was 68 degrees and the one without was 80.0

i stopped the experiment there because it was working so well. so for about 13 bucks if you got hot buckets you can cool them down. ill do a longer experiment when i get plants going in there.
what do you guys think about my set up?
