12x10 Space Advice

So I'm jumping from a tent to a room! And I'm adding a second light but I think they aren't in optimal position for what I'm trying to achieve.

For starters I'm only running 2 1000w HPS' and the recommended coverage is 5x5 each light.

These are the questions I have. Will I be able to get away with the just the two lights in the 12x10 space and if so/ not where should the lights be for optimal 10x10 coverage.

A single 1000 watter like what you have is good for a 4x4 area in flower or a 5x5 area in veg. With two you can cover a 4x8 area. With 4 you can cover an 8x8 area. If you spread the light too thin you will get scraggly, loose, airy buds that are not worth much except for blasting. You are better off just using the portion of the room that you can light properly and save up for additional equipment in the future. Adding more lights will add more heat so that will be a bigger issue than it is now therefore you will likely need more equipment than just 2 more lights if you want to cover the 8x8 area.

Do you have dehumidification in place for later on?

I don't have the funds to portion off the room correctly because of the negative pressure from the fan. Would a 4x10 table in the middle of the room work if the lights are centered correctly? Yes I have a dehumidifier ready to go!

4x8 and you may want to use a corner of the room so you can have reflective surfaces on two sides.

You could add some Quantum Boards for additional light without adding too much heat. I had about the same room in my basement with 3 1000's and 6 QB's over 6 plants. Worked great.
In this thread Black Forest has a beautiful 4x8 tent setup which would only be improved by ditching the tent and having it's own room!

That was my original plan to do 3 1000w but I have no idea where to put the 3rd light. I only have around $150 budget to finish this grow exclusive nutrients I don't think I'll find any QB for that price. Any picture of your setup I need inspiration!

A corner so like the back wall next to the A/C AND side wall? I will post pictures when I'm done setting it up to get some input

Run it in the center of the room a 4’by10’ table would work but I would do 4’by8’. The biggest thing is don’t put it in the corner yes you will have a little more reflectivity but as far as working with your plants being able to walk all the way around is a lot less of a headache. Plus it saves time when working with your plants, and if you have any physical issues you won’t regret it. I find it to be more successful too because you can catch issues quicker being able to see more of the leaves easily.

Obviously not to scale, but you get the drift. (click it to enlarge)

Place the 3rd 1000W light in the corner spaced away from the wall the exact same as the other 2 in the corners once you get it.
Couple things to take into consideration:
How many BTU is the AC unit? (3) 1K HID's will put out some heat.
How many amps are the breakers in that room?
Will you have enough electricity in that room to supply all of the lights, the dehumidifier and the AC unit without tripping breakers? Thats a lot of amperage between all that equipment.

Depends if the room is on one breaker. If build within 20 year you have most likely 20amp(uses 12 gauge wire)in the room. There is a chance that it is only 15amps(uses 14 gauge wire). Each light is 9.8amps or 9.2amps cant remember. Each light also needs 4000btus of cooling at least. If the unit is 1 ton that’s 12000 btus. With 3 lights, ac, and dehumidifier I would guess you need 45ish amps at 120v, also you cant constantly run breakers over 80% load(20amp max is 16amps running). Sooooooo ya, sorry to burst your bubble. You will most likely need to run more power. Although I do see a 240v outlet on the wall next to your ac you could buy a 240v timer and a 1 plug to 3 plug adapter to run your lights. IF AND ONLY IF your ballasts are rated for 120v and 240v. Also by running at 240v your ballast they run cooler. One last thing when you double volts you halve amps so if it’s a 20amp 240v you can run all 3 lights on that outlet!

Say bro I've been growing in a 12x9 room for years. Ive been running 3000w on the back wall over a 9x5ish area and it killed it. Cooling was a bitch though. I used to run 4k but I went threw window mount AC units damn near every year. Lol but my 24000btu ac kept it pretty cool with just 3k. I also ran a 50amp 240v line to a big 8 plug timer. Never ran a dehumidifier before though.
