18/6 never again

I thought I did share why I think 18/6 sucks.. did you read the post? Slower growth... I use a 600w MH during veg.
I did read the post thanks. My question was aimed more towards the type of lighting in your room. You have two sigs. One using a 600, one using fluros.
You said you experienced 30% less growth ..but didn't clarify anything else other than light cycles ... was i under the impression you were vegging under fluros? for sure!
lotsa mods these days eh?

I don't know how much truth there is to this, but I've heard that things like spider mites only get going when the lights click off... meaning if you veg with 24/0 you won't find out you have mites until you throw them into 12/12. Again, don't know how true this is... can anyone confirm? I don't have a source, it's rumor status right now...

Fuck. Why do I have to confirm the bad shit. I wanna confirm good shit! lol. My time will come, I am drinking my milk and taking my vitamins.
Anyway, I was going 24/0 and mites were having fucking rave parties on my shit.

It's a different concept of tricking the plants and I heard it kicks ass, but you need a really really good timer or you have to constantly adjust your shit.

I dunno, I think the more a bulb is striked the faster it gets bad.. and most electronics fail from cooling down and reheating.. Like PC's, if you have a stable temp it's better for the motherboard to remain at a that temp rather than heating up and cooling down, causing warping and cracks in solder joints etc..

Not saying your wrong because I'm not sure.. But I know my digi ballast has a board in it and I think as long as the fan is running and it's staying cool it's better off than turning on and off constantly.
100% agreed. Firing up a bulb and ballast every day is much harder on your equipment than leaving it on 24/7. I have tried both 24/0 and 20/4 schedules for vegative growth, and I didn't notice a bit of difference. Me thinks the 4-6 hour dark period for vegative growth is an urban legend. I've yet to come across any scientific data to back it up.

I still don't get it, how do you veg for 8 hours under a 12/1 cycle??? I guess it doesn't matter but the math doesn't compute for my pickled brain.. Sounds to complicated for me lol..

But what does my being a moderator have anything to do with it?

I've tried both ways myself and to be honest I preferred the 24/0 schedule for vegging. I would however only do that with a plant I've run before with no issues, at least that way I stress out less never mind the plant. It hit me in the nuts the few times I've had hermies. Let's face it where are you going to get 24 hours sunlight in nature apart from the poles?

I've currently a new run going of Tangerine Dream but the growth has just been sooooo sloooooow... what's everyone's take on upping the light from 18/6 to 24/0?

grew mine with 24/7 lights for about 8 weeks from sprout switched over right to 12/12 they are 11 days in 12/12 and flowering i think i will stay with 24/7
Nice looking plant bro. LOTS of healthy green foliage on that girl! Can I assume (with all the new growth and very little stretching) that you vegged under metal halide?

I am doing 18/6 but I think one good advantage to 24/0 is you don't have to worry about night temps, I guess that could help not having stretchy plants during veg

The reason I backed off from 24/0 was to let my shit cool. I don't have a/c hooked up, just fans and shit right now.
