Switching to flower earlier tends to reduce stretch, but on the flip side. Vegging a bit longer= more potential bud sites leading to a bigger yeild.
No mater if you put them into flower now or in a few weeks. Their still gonna be under the higher wattage for the same length of flower time, if you get me?
Maybe switch to12/12 at 8 or 10 inch. We can look at that in a few weeks. Once you see how much they grow etc.
Cheers for the rep man :)

Alright good stuff, nice to know. I've ordered a load more 2700k's after checking my stocks and realising that half of mine are either tiny or don't work! Managed to pick up a bunch of 36W for like £5 each so that's alright. What would your thoughts be on maybe adding a couple of these in during veg? My only concern would be that I won't get an even spread of yellow/white light and don't really fancy moving them around every day.

Also I realised that i've got around two inches of "air" as it where, above my soil but below the rim of my pot; that is to say, the pots aren't full of soil. There's a decent amount of stem though, the leaves don't start until well after the rim of the pot, so is this ok? Should I fill it up a bit?

Also the sharksbreath doesn't seem to be worsening nor getting much better. I'm waiting for the soil to dry out and hope it reacts better to a re-watering.

You'll be alright with the light you've got just now.
You can fill the pot up to just underneath the very first set of leaves(cotyledons). The stem that you bury will grow new roots, always a good thing. But it wouldn't do any harm to leave them as they are.
How wet is the soil the sharks breath is in?
Do the finger test. Stick your finger tip into the soil up to the first knuckle and judge that way

Still pretty wet! It's also quite compacted, more so than the soil ever was of my last plant. But yeah sticking an inch or so of my finger in there results in a tiny layer of damp soil stuck all round my finger, brushes off but not super easy. I really think they could go quite a while before needing watering again!
I suppose the pots are quite large for the size of the plant atm. But I defo didn't over-water them at the start; I only put 500ml in each pot

Yh I'd defo let them dry out. If your saying is compacted a bit, drying will help get oxygen to the root zone
Great, didn't know that. Was always gonna leave it a good while before watering though for sure! I'll probably be practically ready to start nutes next time I water.

Exciting stuff :) They're coming along well though man i'll post a few more pics before the weekend.

Is 500ml an ok amount to be watering them? Should I do a whole litre? I used to chuck 1.5 litres at least into my last plant but thats because the pot was slightly larger and the drainage was woeful, so even after 2L nothing came out the bottom.

500ml should be fine just now mate. They'll let you know if their not getting enough to drink.

What up, what up!?
*ahem*
So I'm calling this the "week 3" mark. I can't exactly remember when I planted them, but they had all sprouted by friday the 7th, after germinating for a couple of days.. So i guess I planted them on weds or so.. Anyway let's call this 3 weeks in.

Third pic is of the AK-48. Think (s)he's my favourite so far, real nice, strong growth.

Sharksbreath is growing, which is promising :P. But yeah, still not dried out fully and therefore not watered it or done anything to it. Just hoping it'll pull through OK. I sure know my last plant looked a whole lot worse throughout most of the veg stage and, hell; i'm smoking that shit right now sooo.. :D

Let me know how it's all looking guys, any tips/tricks greatly appreciated and gimme a heads up on anything I might slip up on

Hey man, looking good! Im sure the SB will pull through.
One thing I will suggest, the bulb you've got on the floor. You should hang that over them. Half the light from that bulb is being wasted as only half the bulb is facing the plant. May as well use all the light by putting it above.

Nice one thanks mate! My light setup is pretty crazy tbh would love to have a single fixture.. Too lazy to make one (also lack any power tools, or tools at all for that matter), and don't fancy buying one. So instead I just dangle lamps around like a nutcase

It would be nice if manufacturers made starter pots that come(snap) apart for people that use plantpots. It would make transplanting from from plantpot to plantpot much easier. I do one transplant. From the cloning bin to the rock table.
Great idea, you should make and sell them. I would buy them.

Alright so the soil is drying out, but not fully dry. The situation is i'm going away on saturday and won't be back for 2 days. I'm planning on watering them tomorrow with nutes, even though it may be a fraction too early it's probs better than leaving them 4 days since they're very nearly dry

Just fed them.. Didn't have a ml measure so just used drops off the edge of a knife haha is that a bad idea? I heard that 20 drops was 1ml
