So this 8yr old mag 1k ballast quit working after 2 grows.I got a 600 digi and never bothered with this until recently when I opened it up to discover it got fried at the 120/240 switch.I only use the 120 and wondered if I can just bypass the switch and hard wire the 120?

The top connection where the yellow common wire connects from is the on/off switch which goes into the coils where the 120 (black/yellow) and 240 (purple) end up as well.

The middle right is the power cord plug (fine)

The bottom is the fried 120/240 connection. Both 120/240 are connected here that go into the coils. There is a black (fried) wire that connects this to the on/off switch that I can replace.

Im thinkin I should just be able to cut and cap the 240 at the fried connection. Then connect the 120 to the on/off switch where the fried black wire is but thats just a HUGE guess as I hate working with electricity and never messed with it.Thats why im here, to ask the experienced ;) Thx!

Yes, you seem to grasp the concept...
Cap the 240 wire... and tape it on...
Then direct wire the 120vac, and you should be good to go, if all else is fine...
By bypassing the switch...
Good luck man...

Oh yea, and mark the 220 leg that you cap, with a piece of masking tape= "240 vac input"
Mark 120 vac with "using 120 vac bypassed bad switch"
and date your work...
For if needed...again... when in 3 years you will have it noted...
