1st grow

First update since 12/12 started. I see my first preflower but its way too small to tell what it is yet but still im excited :)

Got a new light... 300 watt CFL O_O This things huge. i think this will be what i finish flowering with (in addition to the 4 bulbs i currently have)

hows the set up look though? i cant hang it sideways so its like it is in the pic

did some more LST, tied back the new growths to spread everything out a little more. Question --- When should i untie the main stem?

Also i noticed what looks like bug bits along the edges of a couple leaves. However, i cant tell if its bugs or just a misformed leaf, because lately (you may or may not be able to tell from pics) the tips of all the leaves are either yellow or curled in a random direction. Is all this a possible nute burn? Would nute burn cause the leaves to look like they got eaten?

looks good bro.. coming right along.. and a preflower already is amazing! hopefully it isnt just a new growth site..

the leaf curling is many directions isnt anything to worry about.. nor is the yellowing.. from the pics it just looks like the start of a slight nitrogen def... it'd take a few more days to tell.. but since you are starting to flower it isnt a huge deal.. you can add a little nitrgoen to your next feeding if you want.. but its shouldnt be needed...

and you dont untie the main stem.. keep everything tied down as is the entire time...

ya the wires always scare me believe me, but my friend has run those same fans around lights for months at a time several times =/ so im trusting it

Anyways, ya sampson im pumped and im sure its not growth, i know the difference :) its at the top node in between the growth and those weird green V's that grows on the side of each node. im excited :)

is this a good set up to finish flowering or should i make any changes? I had the 300 watt cfl tied with some steel string so it was laying horizontally but someone pointed out that the string could overheat and melt the bulb so i took it down and just put a reflector on it. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/206209-good-bad-way-hang-cfl.html for picture from last night

Having a number of problems.

First of all is the droopage. As you can tell, she isnt looking too happy today. Very down. In addition, another couple bottom leaves turned yellow and shriviled up in the past few days. Is this related to the drooping or just cuz they are at the bottom? Anyways, i cut them off, hope that doesnt make things worse

Second is what i think is bugs. A few days ago i noticed what appeared to be bug bites, now there seems to be another leaf victim (check photo) I dunno for sure, but the half ripped off part of the leaf leads me to believe a bug is behind this.

3rd is the pre flower. Ok, so it isnt really a problem but im happy :) see if you can see it in the one close up picture. Its shaped ovally and theres a spec of white at the tip so im hoping its a girl :)

4th, i gotta ask again cuz its getting annoying refilling my thing. How long does water with nutes in it stay good for? its in a water bottle and i hate mixing up a new batch.

Moister in soil is 4 out of 10, pH is 7. So the only thing i can think of for the droopage and dead leaves is nute damage? is it cuz of the change in nutes? what should i do? when i water tomorrow should i leave out the nutes this time?

ok... so the first issue can very well be a nute issue.. when you change nutes it can make them act werid... its best to ween them off of veg nutes and slowly introduce flower nutes.. but since you really didnt give her many nutes during veg it should be to bad... giver her a couple days and she should perk back up...

i dont think the leaf tear was a bug.. it might have been.. but it doesnt look like you have a pest issue... just a random house pest could have done it.. or not anything at all... just keep an eye out... you'll know if its a pest because more of the same thing will happen.. but for now keep an eye on things and it should be fine...

i saw what you were talking about.. but its not clear enough to tell... pretty much if you are seeing 2 white hairs coming from the V at the nodes you got a girl.. if they start developing into more like grape clusters then you have a male.. should be able to tell in the next 5 days i would imagine for sure tho...

if you are using standard "mix and feed" nutes than 1 day... either feed them or throw them out.. if you get nutes that can be used in resirculating or pour to drain hydro systems they will lats longer.. otherwise just use em and toss out what you dont use..

i would try to lower your PH by a point or so.. thats pretty high.. and can cause nute lock out.. also, i would only feed your girl nutes every other feeding.. this just lets her use up all the available shit in the soil before hitting her with more... can avoid problems that way...

how do i lower the pH?

and also, since i took those pictures she drooped even worse, all branches and leaves are down :( is it possible this is from over/under watering?

you can use lemon juice to lower the ph.. i cant tell you for sure how much to use cause it will vary... but you should do some research and find out.. i would imagine 1/2 a lemon would drop you a point at least.. its a cheap way.. or you can go get some PH down from your local hydroponic/garden store...

typically droopy leaves indicate underwatering... how wet is your soil?

This is the 6th or 7th day of 12/12.

Plant has perked back up. Im assuming it was heat stress (it was 92, i opened the closet and aired it out back to 82 ish and shes up again)

The pre flower got a tiny bit bigger, still no pistols but it is def football shaped as opposed to spherical and theres a spec of white at the tip so im hoping >_<

The top 3 or so sets of leaves are starting to get crisp. Is this from heat from the new huge light or something else?

also i guess im gonna add some lemon to my next watering to lower pH. thoughts? its still at 7

Hey can you please take a picture of your whole grow setup?

I have been basing most of my current (and first grow) off of this grow log you made and so far so good :blsmoke:

I am just curious as to how you have your fans setup

ya for sho. I have a big revolving fan in the corner, and 2 small fans i rigged from computer fans blowing from the side. I have 3 hanging chords with bulb sockets. Middle one is my 300 watt equiv CFL 2700. The other 2 chords have splitters with 2x 150 watt equiv 2700 cfls and 2x 125 watt equiv 6500. I kept 2 of the daylight spectrums because i hear it helps with the THC development

Thanks a lot this thread has been a HUGE help for me.

I have my rubbermaid setup with 4 sprouts in it right now.

The temp is about ~83 and the humidity is about 43 and it has remained constant for a while.

Good luck on those girls! did you fix the droopage?

yeah you gotta keep it below 90, otherwise growth stops apparently.

I've changed my warm mist humidifier with a cool mist one, now my temp is 80 degrees, with RH of 50%. Its perfect! i can even keep the closet doors closed completely (open them a couple times a day to air out)

actually you can run higher temps under certain conditions.. you have to have plenty of air exchange and plenty of fresh air available... basically a ton of fresh air circulation with plenty of co2 availability.. think of it like this.. during the summer do plants stop growing when temps are way up?? no... its because there is almost always a breeze (fresh air movement/exchange/circulation) and available co2 (fresh air is a limitless supply of co2)... if you can mimic that indoors by pulling fresh air into your grow room and exhaust stale air out you can run with warmer temps and still have great success!! only thing is if you are running hydro you need to keep the res in the 65 to 75 range to keep roots happy... they tend to cook in tempts 80+... but thats a whole other thing..

Hey man ive read over your thread atleast twice now and my plant is just at the very beginning of its life. Your thread has been very helpful to me lots of knowledge especially the help and advice Sampson gives out your a true hero to Gigems girl =) maybe you can take a look at my thread and tell me how im doing so far with my setup, it doesnt seem to get very much attention

all the growth you see are bud sites... everywhere you see that light green growth is a place where a bud will form... give them about 3 weeks and you should see them resembling popcorn buds.. congrats bro!

you can lst as much as you need to... wouldnt worry to much after about the 3rd week of flowering as growth (vertical and horizontal) will stop... it will just be bud producing from then on out!.. the more you can lst the more light the lower branches will recieve and the bigger the buds can get...
