Im thinking of buying a 7.5ft 7.5ft 7.5ft grow tent and I want to use a couple of 1000 watt mh/hps and I will be growing around 25 plants in 5 gal grow bags so is all that light a complete overkill for my setup
they will both be air cooled

Yeah i would be venting air in from outside to cool the lights and the grow room and im going to run the light periods at night when the air outside is much cooler

That's gonna be a chore to control that heat. If you can pull it off though it would be interesting to see what you could do. Keep us posted!

unless you have them on movers then thats way to big of a space for just 2 1000w lights. a 1000w can cover a 4x4 area maybe a 5x5 if you want to push it. a 4x8 tent or 5x10 tent would be better to make sure you get enough light per square foot

you would be way better off with 4 600's in a space that square, unless you threw a light mover in there there would be a ton of wasted space on the sides where there is not much light, here is a pic of my old flood and drain 4x8, the 7.5 foot length is good but the width will either be unusable due to low light, so really consider more small lights, or if your not hell bent on stuffing plants in every corner then you can still get a killer crop with 2 1k lights

I use 2 k in a 4ft by 8ft tent heat is sometimes an issue deff. run at night but with ac and ventilation its not hard

I have 2 x1000 watt in a 5x5 tent with 14000 btu ac sealed with co2 at 1500 ppm and it is amazing i can keep it at 80 deg f or 27 deg cel with no problem! they are 12 days old and on there 4 set of nodes!!! It can be done but is a lot of work but worth the time!!!!! you can almost see them grow !! OH ya and btw I am useing 2 8 inch cool tubes to get the heat out of my house

I run 2 x 600w HPS in a 5x5 and actually (as Benreed has mentioned above) i think it could take more. If you can vent that space properly, a minimum of 4x600w....if not 4x1000w.

More plants, smaller pots, white walls, shit 50+square feet throw 3 of those 1000w's in there if it won't topple over or burn to the ground.

I also agree that 4x600s are a better way to go. This would give you way more even distribution, as mentioned, but also has another benefit...

Flexibility. You could, for example, group your shorter plants in one corner and lower that light a little to help them catch up. Or you could have plants of different ages in the same space. Probably not important if you are going to monocrop a single strain, but at least you have the option should your needs change.

600's are a waste. Put 4 1000w in there, and install a GFI outlet with a built in circuit breaker. Keep your temp in check and adjust light height for flexibility. Worth it in the long haul.
