The guy who is opening a business called Trade Roots I spoke with briefly also is a member of the program the CCC put out.. Can't think of it, but it is based off the whole jail reform thing.
Nice to know we have some local heros around trying to get the little guy at the table! Appreciate your work! And your point that sometimes you gotta team up is spot on, that is how most business' get a start if they can't get a bank loan. Just wish it wasn't as cutthroat like you say.

A few of the shops near me (outside of Pittsfield) are local owned, but a few are from out of state or are fronts for bigger guys.

Or... you could simply be an investor in the BC movement, apparently, with the right investors, and the right business model, you could turn 300k into a million dollar a year operation.. Observe their model, downsize it if you would. Or right size it even better. Research the successful methods that many have used, learn from the mistakes and successes already documented.
Right sizing is the best advice I can give. Starting small can teach you many things along your path to creating a larger design.

Other advice I would give, location, location, location. Gotta find that spot, maybe not your first spot, but your varsity spot should specialize in many things. Deception, security, production, Anonymity, law bending not breaking, or otherwise.
When I say bend, we all bend the law to some extent. I have 12 plants, and one little 11 incher in with the sunflowers. According to law, thats 13 plants and they can come and yank them all. Its a non productive plant, might have a gram dried if Im lucky, but its bending the law.
So are we speaking of bending the law by our own selective interpretation that we feel we could argue with? As in 'Well six couples live here, so we can grow 72 plants' ?
When I lived in the Emerald Triangle, they would do just this. All hired help and employees lived on site, each had the proper paperwork, so when the 5-0 showed up to raid the 672 plant grow, all the proper paperwork was in order when asked for.( As each resident could legally grow X amount of plants)
Now, lets talk seriously about outdoor grows vs indoor. Because, dont know if youve seen any of @ganga gurl420 plants, but 72 of them suckers would keep Japan high for a year. You have high overhead growing inside, not to mention risk. Growing outside legal you could produce far more for a lot less.

Old lady is getting at me, (bed:sleep:) but I would love to hear more on this idea. I dont have cash to be an investor or partner, but if and when it comes to security, give me a jingle. Its one of my gifts. Always available to consult or help.
GN, Peace, and Namaste. May your soggy buds end in sun and wind that dries your medicine with no rot or problems.
Might just barely make it to harvest...bongsmilie
Guys, don't wanna be a downer but 2 things.
12 is 12. Go bigger and run the risk. Not a big risk unless you do hundreds or run your mouth about it, but 12 is the law with a 2 person household and it does not go up with more adults in the house.
Secondly, @PioneerValleyOG I don't wanna burst your bubble, but 300k for 1 mil in a year isn't a thing. Thats a pyramid scheme. If I gave you 300k to do it today, you'd have 0 tomorrow.

Way to make millions on pot is to go get a license, or open a dispensary, but again huge initial out put of cash most cant do. This is intentional and the pot industry has been taken over by rich investor's so guys like us cant get a foot in.
Local guy was selling heavy and got busted it was on mass live about a month back. Millions in cash, lots of cars etc.. etc... All gone.
In my mind, this is not a get rich quick scheme.... Absolutely none of this was thought of for selling and making money... TBH 300k for 1MIL is not a great investment IMO... Selling weed legally or illegally is not a good choice IMO.... for one... the money is no where near good enough to justify any stress or risk... Some days I make $1200+ just sitting in my underwear on my computer for 45 min in the morning... Some bad days its $150 ... But on avg 5 days a week ill make between 300-800 from 830-10am daily, legally... no selling of drugs involved.. taxes paid when required. Once I started doing that I couldnt believe how stupid it was to sell weed anyway, would never do it again... Even when growing a bunch and its "nothing but profit" the stress of that isnt worth it.. My lifes built on integrity and doing whats right, so the stress from breaking any laws just isnt worth it for me these days, too much to lose..

The reason for each lot being its own tax plat registered as an address with the town/city means each lot is allowed potentially 12 plants if 2 adults live in each lot... The only thing being shared is labor, materials, greenhouse, etc. all legal things... 72 plants in this set up would fall under personal rec growing... no need to apply, register, form any coop or company... allow any inspections or anything at all.

The only reason for me wanting more than the 12 plant limit would be to have a legal personal breeding program... Never would it be to sell even if the price of weed quadrupled..still wouldnt... Strictly for the love of the plant and working on future strains..

It’s a damn shame. States OUGHT to give significant preferential treatment to local small business.

300k for for 1 million in a single year isn't good? LOVE to know what you do for investments then. Because I'd take that return in 12 months any day.

Edit: I am with you on growing shouldnt be super stressful and a big business. Thats not why I got into it and it would ruin it for me.

Sorry, I should've clarified a bit...

300k into a MJ business, expecting your 1MIL returned in a year... is outrageous. and would be a terrible investment IMO.

That 300k would much safer in almost any mutual or index fund and would likely earn more your first year than ANY MJ business... Sorry, but the market is too flooded and the profit isnt there... Way too much stress.

I just dont believe that investment would be wise... Sure, if there was a guaranteed investment where I could put 300k into a box and 1 year later take a million out, guaranteed... Then sure, thatd be a good investment. For marijuana business these days? starting up? with or without licensing in place thats just bad news imho...

FYI I may be biased but I absolutely hate what I see in legalization, cultivation and anything to do with marijuana and big business or government... So I wouldnt ever put my money into something like that. To each their own though, my opinion is probably formed from these biases.

edit: I wonder how caregivers do.
@moonman33 - those figures I took from one of the articles I posted on BC Growers, I believe it was 300k to set up a business that makes a million every year, not a year. I would not be interested in anyone giving me $300 k, I am just not one of the ' Go Big' kind of people. And I'm pretty sure I'm the one that said 12 plants per property is the limit, looks like I gotta stop smoking and posting....

Here's the Canadian info from the article...

Payday
The payoff for commercial growers is huge. BC Hardcore diagrammed the agricultural economics of big grows as follows: It costs about $120,000 CDN to initially outfit a house to make it a commercial grow. This does not include the purchase cost of an average 2,000 square foot house, which can hold a 75-light operation growing 1,100 plants that produce 150 pounds of top-grade sinsemilla every eight weeks.
Ongoing costs after start up are about $11,000 per month. The cost of a mortgage is on average $15,000 down, and $1,000 a month in mortgage and property taxes for the kind of house that growers prefer. Thus, the first year cost of running a 75-light commercial grow is approximately $277,000. Costs decrease after the first year.
With proper quality control and nutrients that produce at least two pounds per light, a 75-light grower can harvest about 900 pounds of cannabis per year. Cannabis sells for an average of $2,300 CDN wholesale, which results in gross sales of about $2 million per year.
Even if we upped the per year expenses to $350,000 per year, the profit on a 75-light, 2,000 square foot grow house is $1.65 million per year. If the grow consortium wanted to pay cash for the house ($300,000), profits would still total more than a million dollars per year, right from the start

that article was from 16 years ago ... legalization has since sucked any profit out of it

The tips of the leaves were and are turning yellow, I'm only flushing now, but this one got yellow real fast, think I see some rot but waiting for rain to stop before I check it out. Rot moves so fucking fast.

You ain’t lyin! I’m now tempted to pull all of my TNR because 1). It’s technically mature enough and 2). I found rot in a nice cola which pissed me off.

Interested in this as well... Always wondered about that for a friend who lives in a duplex. Please update us if you hear anything outside of this thread.

I am wondering if you trade options ?
