Anyone doing a winter indoor? When do you get started? I'm hoping to get going in the next two weeks, been redoing my basement and thats where it will be taking place. Need to get it cleaned out and all the drywall dust out of every little corner so I don't suck it into my tent.
I start em whenever i please. If moving outdoors i start them mid to late February

Wait til you see the difference in taste, quantity, and flavor from waiting until they finish too! Nice job they look good for sure :weed:
Yeah, I learned so much on this site! Been doing 'instinctive growing' for a long ass time, until somebody older I thought I respected told me that some 25 year old kid 'forgot more about growing than I ever knew.'
I took that personally, because the kids not that smart, but his dads a professor of something somewhere and is a grower extraordinaire, his kids a privileged ( not mentioning fathers credentials because I don't know, but because of confidentiality.)
So I decided to do some networking and research, taking advantage of knowledge platforms such as RIU, and I have become more educated, more knowledgeable, and more confident.
So from many things I've learned to expound on, but one of the most important things I've learned, is to stop whining and wondering at harvest time, stop posting pictures every day like a dork, and even though we are challenged by the rot and late weather dampness, just gotta pull up the Manties, (similar to Panties) and fight the good fight as long as possible.
This is the hardest time of the year, a real junk twister. Weather, cold, wetness, all causing the crop to ripen and cause issues at the same time.
Back to what I learned, patience, patience, patience yet also careful, careful. Cut out the bud rot, spray the PM, Deal with pater killers for thks that have them, think that's a coastal thing in MASS. Been to the Cape camping and it was RE-Donkulous.
About to carve into the harvest window, pretty excited about this year.
Some other advice I got was run auto flower in. MA. But only two months of flower seems too quick. I got no prob letting things run to Oct 1st ish around here, in good years if your lucky, you might stretch to Oct15.
But for the most part, to be safe, Oct 1-4 is safe. Anyone can advise me when I should start seeds to make that happen.? Thinking late Feb early Mar ,but that will be some.more RIU research.

Last thing, I have a meter in my basement that reads 60-63, which I understand is acceptable. Shall I wet trim the sugar leaves.on the plant before I hang? Or should I listen to those that let the sugar leaves stay to slow down the process.
Limiting myself to one lame.question per day, tired of feeling inadequate, I should be knowing these things by now.

i literally just started soaking seeds today for my winter grow. Sprouting 3 seeds, keeping one and growing one big plant over the winter. Mostly just to give me something to do. And because I enjoy it

I prefer indoor because I have rot nightmares. Even my autos this year that I cut a few months ago started getting some. There are different issues in the tent, but more controllable.

I am getting a new set up from a 2x3 to a 5x5 so my first run will be autos, then in spring I’ll veg a bunch of regular seeds I have in it for the outdoor season. Maybe keep one or two in the tent and see the difference at the end of the season.

I like to experiment over the winter. Try different techniques etc and your right, less stress over issues you can’t control

Is anyone else having a hard time finding mason jars. I have been to every store around my area and literally can find none. Even online the only ones I can find are about 60 bucks a case. I guess just another thing I learned this year stock up on your mason jars early

I ask local restaurants and buddies that work in service industry to save me any jars and containers, I've gotten a bunch of these huge olive jars this year... One greek restaurant I know goes through 4 of these in a week.. The lids could be betters, and they need a decent cleaning to get the smell out and ready... But I love them... Would recommend trying your local spots for next year.

That's such a good idea I never even thought of it. Ended up hitting some stores like savers and Goodwill and just grabbing whatever I could find for now.

Forced to cut mine today, had 4 kids venture 300 yards onto my property trying to get back to another property and totally compromised my spot. They definitely looked excited until I told them to GTFO
similar thing happened to me yesterday. Three of my neighbors kids were walking on my property and I saw them all stop and point and stare at my grow. There probably middle school age and look harmless but kinda pissed me off. I have no trespassing signs up but apparently nobody cares anymore

I got 10 5L jars from Everything kitchens for 9.99 each and they have a 5 dollar promo. They were immediately shipped. 2 came broken but they are resending

I've given up on buying mason jars for now, gonna try the turkey bags some people swear by and hope the canning situation calms down once winter sets in and gardening is well behind us.

ETA: I don't care what anyone says, I've been ready for this grow season to be over for well over a month, and yet it carries on.

Romulan Harvest this week.
Satori still has some time to go yet.
Got all my jars from twenty years ago.
Stocked up on lids last year, seeds too.
Found a vacuum sealer in the pantry, going to give it a try.
