24 hours of dark

Okay iv heard of 24 hours of dark before harvest, but 24 hours of dark before switching to flower!? Im 18/6 now lights go on at 7pm. Im ready to switch over to 12/12 and begin to flower. Im hearing that I need to keep lights out for 24hrs before switching. I would like too switch to 12/12 tonight, but if I need to wait and put them in darkness I can stop the light from coming on at 7pm. Does anyone have any comments if this works or not. Or has seen a noticeable difference if not done. Thanks for the help as always RIU!

You can just switch on over to 12/12 - the flowering transition isn't an instantaneous thing by any stretch of the imagination and 24 hours of darkness is definitely not needed. I've heard of people claiming it speeds things up but I'm pretty sure that's a sort of placebo/power of suggestion thing in the mind of some growers. I really doubt it has enough of a true impact on the plant to really be noticeable.

Correct... Logical thinking how could it possibly help.....
There is no "Logical" reason...

there is a lot of info on this subject . if you look it up. major ways we know of today to get the best smoke highest thc possible im talking high times show quality! yes trim in in the dark. but to get prepared . first you will need a chain saw, and a hockey mask. step 2 . get all liquored up. step 3 . put on the hockey mask. step 4 start the chain saw. step 5 run down the street yelling screaming ! with that loud chain saw ful throttle best time is between 2 and 3 am for this. then its time to trim that plant. rem keep it pitch black! and keep that saw running and that hockey mas on its a must. if you think all this will increase taste quality. then you should leave a plant in the dark before you trim .

Kindddiesel,
I get what you are saying and I recently ask someone whom. Regard as a Solid source of good grow advice.
It makes so much sense, it's Logical!

Dark period at the end of Flowering;

Well I always advocate a dark period.

basically it hinges on the fact that trichomes don't mature at the same rate.

We all know (or you should) that once the trichome turns cloudy it stops producing cannabinoids and things begin to degrade and cyclicize.

some harvest later or earlier for different effect and that's their deal.

so when deciding when to chop they say, well I want 20% amber or whatever their preference.

This may be to have some cbn and a more relaxing effect or different flavors etc.. but we have to choose a ratio of clear to cloudy to amber.

the dark period let's those immature clear trichomes cloud up while no longer deteriorating the already mature trichomes .

This improves potency while not really adding amber so you choose the amount of amber/traits that come with and then do the dark period.

the dark period keeps the already amber heads from degrading more giving a closer ratio and preserving terps that may have evaporated.

The dark period should be 3-4 days imo.

there really isn't a cut off point but you don't want the plant to die, mold or get crazy growth.
(some longer flowering plants can keep the bud growth going even at the end)

I've actually let plants go weeks and they end up drying on the branch, not all that great for a cure lol.

so I mean within reason and perhaps you judging the plants harvest window and traits about the plant you can judge.
I do 3-4

I asked this question, dark yes or no?
it was answered by Qwizoking, A mans who opinion I respect with a logical answer to a big question!
Thanx Qwizoking!
